Harry Styles(4): Week of September, 10th 2022

Hello everybody and what’s up! Well I can’t believe I’m saying this, but last years countdown was the first one I ever revised on this blog, right when Stay hit #1. It’s hard to believe I’ve been doing this for a whole year, but I have. It’s been such a great time and to celebrate I’m doing a one year special over the course of the next week. It’ll Involve 2 parts, and the setup for the Q&A which is part 1 is alright up on a post, so go and leave as many questions there as you want. I’m getting some really good ones, and I can’t wait to answer them when my 1 year anniversary officially hits this coming Wednesday the 14th of September. This weeks countdown was alright and it sure was easy to follow and review because we had few debuts, the top 5 mostly reminded the same, but man Hits 1s day time rotation got really bad this week, and I’ll explain why in the blurbs, but for now let’s take a look at what songs left the countdown this week.

Debuts

Alright, our debuts for this week are 2 songs that debuted Hitbound last week. First up we like the most unpopular member of One Direction Louis Tomlinson with his new single called Bigger than me(for reason I keep calling it bigger than life and I don’t know why) I really like Louis writing that he puts into some of his songs, and how they’re a bit emotional sometimes like Two of us, or Don’t let it break your heart. He’s not the most memorable or popular artist though and not one that I think about that often. As for this new song, it’s great, it’s not his best, but it’s pretty great. Louis does a great job vocally here, and the production is really nicely done, and fits the message of the song perfectly. It’s not too fast, but not too slow either. The writing is amazing to, like in his past songs. It’s about change(so know of course I’m gonna like it) and his play on the subject is really great here. It’s not really too catchy compared to songs like Stay or High, but as long as I like the writing, it’s not a huge deal. This is a pretty good song overall, and I think it’ll do well here given Hits 1’s track record with pretty much every 1D member. Next.

Our other debut coming in at #26 is Million Dollar Baby by Ava Max. I downgraded this to green because of the new #1 song on my chart this week(which everyone here except for me and Hippo seems to not really like) that doesn’t mean I hate this song though, as it debuted in the top 5, just behind I Ain’t worried and another random song off So Fat So Good(cuz ya know I still to that on repeat daily) anyways back to Ava Max though, this is an amazing song. She sounds so phenomenally great here, and her voice is pretty hard to match when it has this much vocal power put into it. The production here is very bright and EDM-ish. I love the bass it gives off, and it’s just super fun and upbeat. The writing is also catchy and fun. Overall, I hope this smashes here, just like Maybe your the problem.

Best countdown debut: Ava Max-Million Dollar Baby

Biggest jump of the week: Kane Brown-Grand(+11) I am actually starting to come around to this, so I’m happy that it jumped. The trap vibe in this one is actually pretty cool. It’s still not the best song here, but I’ll take it.

Biggest drop of the week: Joji-Glimpse of us(-10)  Nice to see that this boring church hymn won’t be going much further after this big drop from this week. Let’s get this lotta here soon.

Countdown extra: JVKE-Golden Hour

Last years #1 song and my favorite song from last year: The Kid Laroi/Justin Beiber-Stay(can’t believe it’s been 1 year since this hit #1 here)

My least favorite song from last year-Doja Cat-Need to Know

Hitbound

Demi Lovato-29

DJ Khalad/Drake/Lil baby-Staying Alive(Re-entry)

Ashe-Emotional

David Guetta\Bebe Rexha-I’m Good(blue)(Debut)

David Morris-Dutton Ranxh Freestyle(Debut)

John Legend/Saweetie-All she wanna do

Cheat Codes/Russell Dickerson -I Remember

 Charlie Puth-Smells like me(Debut)

Anees-Sun and Moon

JVKE-Golden Hour

Lewis Capaldi-Forget me(Debut)

Havana Winter-Rain Rain Go Away

Willow-Curiois/Furious(Debut)

Talk-Run away to Mars

Armani White-Billie Eilish

Fletcher-Sting(Debut)

Debuts

Staying Alivere-entered. I’m most certainly fine with that, cuz it’s pretty much the best song off DJ Khalad’s new album called God Did.

I’m so excited this first song is here, it dropped a few weeks ago and I listened to it and was very impressed by it, and I kept listening to it throughout the last few weeks, but I didn’t even realize how much it was trending and how popular it was until Hrish brought it up to me in the Hits 1 Discord, then shortly I had my friend text me and ask if I’ve heard it, and of course I told him I had, and it also turns out he loves it, so you can kinda tell that this song called I’m Good(blue) by EDM producer David Guetta and Bebe Rexha is really cool in my opinion. First off, I’m not exactly sure where the piano sample comes from that Guetta uses in this song, cuz apparently it’s from some old song, but the melody is amazing, and the EDM style production backs it up really nicely. It has great buildup, and I love the drop also. Bebe Rexha does a fantastic job here vocally, and I think she really fits in with the vibe well. I also love the writing though, it’s very fun and upbeat, and it’s been getting me hyped up for the weekend, cuz it’s just got a really nice feel good vibe to it. Overall, this is an awesome song and I hope it does well here(editors note after I wrote my review I listened to the original song this samples, and I know I recognize it from the opening scene of a Marval Superhero’s movie, but I forgot which one it was, it’s definitely cool, but the vocals are way better in this new song).

Next we have some guy named David Morris with his song Dutton Ranch Freestyle. This is a country-rap mashup, and normally yall would probably think I hate that because I don’t really like Walker Hayes or Morgan Wallen, but this is the first country-rap that I think has slapped since Old Town Road a few years ago. I really quite like David Moreises voice here, and his accent doesn’t sound too horrible over this beat. The beat is really nice and well produced and I absolutely love how about halfway through there’s a guitar that comes in. The writing is also catchy and Morris has a really nice flow. Overall this slaps, let’s see if it can debut.

Next we have Charlie Puth with Smells like me, and this is solid, but it’s definitely not a song that’s too special in any way. The production is nice, but kinda basic and Charlie sounds great here. The lyrics are also really nice and kinda catchy, but I don’t know, it kinda feels a bit too basic and I wish I loved it more. It’d be cool to see this debut though after Obsessed failed to, but I’d rather have that back honestly. Next.

It’s been a really long and overdue 3 years since Lewis Capaldi has released any new music. I really liked a few of his first songs that became hits a few years ago. Someone you loved got a bit boring and I don’t find it to be as special now, but Before you go was pretty good and Bruises was also great, but I think everyone has been waiting for him to step out of his comfort zone a bit and do an upbeat song, and wa-la folks, that’s what we have with his new song called Forget Me. This is really nice. The production here sounds so cool and upbeat and Lewis sounds great over it. He does scream a bit in the chorus, but it doesn’t have as much of a vocal power than it did in his slower song like Someone You Loved, that’s a good thing though because sometimes it does sound really annoying when he does that. He uses his vocal power perfectly here, and the writing is also great. I’m falling in love with this already and I hope it smashes. Next.

Willow is back with a new song called Curious/Furious(Curious and Furious) and this is cool. The production is a bit different and a bit more poppy here, which is kinda cool, like did Travis Barker actually produce this, cuz it doesn’t sound like his usual style? It sounds super good though, and Willow does a great job vocally. The writing is also really nice here, the chorus is very catchy to. This is cool, and I wouldn’t mind seeing it do well.

Oh great, just another song from Fletcher, that’s all we need on Hitbound. This new song called Sting from her upcoming album Girl of My Dreams is decent and better than Beckys so Hot, but it’s still weird and not good at all. Fletcher sounds alright here, but the production is really weird and I just Doug like the writing in any of these new song, it’s all TikTok drama and shit that I don’t like. It’s decent, but I can live without it.

As for the Hitbound exits, we lost Heaven, Dead inside and Cross your mind. I knew these weren’t gonna debut, and thankfully Heaven didn’t cuz it sucked, the other 2 were good, but I forgot what they sounded like, so again I don’t really mind them being gone.

The abyss

Morgan Wallen-Wasted on you

Drake/Future/Tems-Wait for U

Nessa Barrett-Die First

Benny Blanco/BTS/Smoop Dogg-Bad Decisions

Piitbull/Zac Brown-Can’t stop us now

The Weeknd-Die for you

Sia-Unstoppable

Sofia Carson-Come back home

Macklemore/Windsor-MANIAC

Black eyed peas/Shakira/David Guetta-Don’t you worry

Stephen Sanchez-Until I found you

Best Hitbound debut: tie between David Guetta/BebeRexha-I’m Good(blue) and Lewis Capaldi-Forget Me

Blurbs

Pink Venom dropped on its second week Hahahahahahahahahaha. 🤮

It’s nice to see Snap move up 4 spots. I really didn’t think this song would be that on its second week, but alas it did, I’m curious now to see if it’ll smash here.

Yes Bas Habit is now my favorite song on the countdown, your looking at that right. I wish I knew you wanted me, I wish I knew, I wish I knew you wanted me. So damn catchy.

About Damn Time looks like it’s run is coming to an end here, and I’m alright with that since it had a great run and made a bit of history by hitting #1.

It’s nice to see Hold Me Closer jump 9 spots on its second week. I’ve been enjoying it a lot lately. Can it do as good as Cold Heart did? I hope so, but we’re just gonna have to hang on to find out.

Worlds Smallest Violin also jumped 5. I’m alright with that, although I don’t listen to this song at all, it’s still cool though.

What is with Vegas dropping and then jumping and then dropping again, can we make up our minds if this is gonna do well or not Hits 1.

Fuck, the F R EEEEEEE AK AK AK song jumped 7 more spots. I get that it’s catchy, but it’s annoying and gross, can we please get it out of here.

I think I’m officially becoming bored with So Good.

Devil doesn’t bargain moved up 5 spots. That’s nice to see, I hope it came make it into the top 10, so we can give Alec another hit here.

Nooooooooooooo, why did I like you and 2 be loved have to switch places. The latter is literally all I’ve heard this week when I’ve tuned into Hits 1, it’s become so annoying to listen to. Please no, let’s not make this a hit. I was alright with About Damn Time, but not this.

As the Summer comes to an end, we are starting to slowly say goodbye to Sunroof, as it dropped 2 spots to #3.

Well guys, uh my wishes didn’t come true that Numb would hit #1, even though I kept the Marshmello head out all week. Oh well though, I mean at least if Harry is blocking 2 be loved along with Numb, Left and Right and Sunroof, I guess it’s alright(note to self that statement will probably trigger some people) and to emphasize how much I’ve heard 2 be loved this week here’s a little fact that only I myself know, out of our current top 5 songs, I only heard 2 be loved this week. Sounds crazy right? Well it’s actually true. The only 2 songs they have in heavy rotation that I heard this week were Lizzo and I like you. That’s how much their rotation sucks, I’m still gonna follow this countdown, but if that shit continues I might need a break from Hits 1 during my weekdays. At least I don’t workout to them anymore.

We lost Are you entertained and Break My soul. I don’t really mind either one of them leaving, although it would’ve been nice for the former to stay for a bit longer.

Sigala/David Guetta/Sam Ryder-Living without you
