Nicky Youre/Dazy(5): Week of August, 20th 2022

Hello everyone, what’s up? Guess what, I actually felt like using an actual image of Nicky Youre this week lol, anyways this weeks countdown was pretty solid, although I really could’ve gone without the debuts and exits, but everything else was alright. One thing, before we get into it though, I should be working on Summer Madness and plan on getting it out tonight before my school semester starts tomorrow, so look for that later on. Debuts

Really Hits 1, like seriously. We get rid of a song from 1985 and replace it with fucking Nicki Minaj. You have got to be fucking shitting me. You guys are the worst, not really, but I mean come on, there’s better more worthy songs to be pushed out there than this shit, and I wouldn’t have minded if Running up that hill stayed. Do I need to explain why I even hate this, I mean the name should tell you everything you need to know. It’s overly sexual. The lyrics are gross, and Nicki sounds like complete shit as always. Her voice hasn’t been great since 2013, it’s always been this high pitched annoying ass baby sounding ass voice all throughout her songs ever since then, and it isn’t better at all here. The production also sucks. The Rick James sample is kinda cool, but the beat used here sounds so basic and boring and the mixing was shitty. Combine all this shit into one song, and it just makes for a stupid shit-show. Overall I’m not happy that this debuted. Let’s hope they don’t push it too far, cuz it’s way worse than Need to know is.

Next we have another shitty debut from Ed Sheeran along with Russ, who I like to call Mr Javkass, because that’s honestly what he sounds like In all of his songs. I didn’t like Handsomer at all, and this isn’t that great either, although it’s slightly better. Once again for 1 millionth time I’ll say it again, Russ sounds like a complete jackass here vocally. His voice sounds horrible and the lyrics are just weird as all hell. I was hoping Ed Sheeran would make this better, but he doesn’t. He doesn’t fit in here with the trappy production and he just doesn’t use his vocal power to the best of his ability when he sings here. Also what the hell is this beat? It’s another trap beat with a weird ass background noise. Can we make real trap with real background for once people, make a Future or Migos type beat if your gonna make trap, not some lame ass beat with a boring background, it just doesn’t sound right. Overall bad debut. Let’s hope it doesn’t do well here.

Biggest jump of the week: Harry Styles-Music for a sushi restaurant(+9)  UhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, hold on a moment. Alright, HOW IS THIS HERE? It literally had maybe like 4 spins the whole week, and now it’s at #10 on the countdown. What in the actual fuck? Do people really like this song as much as they do, I mean not that I don’t like it, but I mean come on either it’s gotta be gone, or they have to start playing it more like they did with Late night talking because I’m sorry but it doesn’t make sense to keep a song that barely has any AirPlay on this countdown and say it’s #10, you already know that’s them stanning Harry as hard as they can, we’ll guess what I hope it doesn’t work this time Hots 1. Either up the AirPlay or drop it, cuz this is stupidly unacceptable.

Biggest drop of the week: 5 Seconds of Summer-Me, Myself & I & Halsey-So Good(-11)  I don’t mind either of these dropping cuz one of them is horrible and the other very forgettable,

Debuts

Yes, I had to put 2 songs in purple. Your seeing that right.

Drowsy re-enteeed. Alright, I’m cool with that,

First up, we have a new single off of Demi Lovato’s new album Holy Fvck called 29. I tried to listen to some of this album and man do I hope Demi never tries punk again because some of these songs sounded horrible. This one was decent, but nothing I’d call good in any way. The writing is really nice and a bit catchy, and I like the production, but Demi just doesn’t fit in here. Punk rock does not sound good with her voice, and it clearly shows here. I also don’t remember what this sounds like 2 seconds after I heard it, which usually mean I won’t like a song if I forget it in the long run. Let’s move onto something else. Next.

Moving onto a much. better, but still not great song from Macklemore and Windsor called MANIAC. I thought they’re collab called Next year was alright, but this is definitely not better. Macklemore sounds great here and has great flow, and Windsor sounds decent, but it’s a bit more slow and less catchy than I thought it would be, and some of the lyrics are weird, I wouldn’t mind it debuting though.

Alright, so I should’ve seen this song coming from a mile away. I’m not really the biggest fan of K-Pop, especially when it comes to female K-Pop, and I’m totally not trying to be sexist when I say that, but I don’t know Korean females just do not have great voices to me. I’ve tried to listen to some of BlackPinks music before , but it just never seems to work out for me because I just don’t like their voices. They sound weird with the accents, so In conclusion I wasn’t looking forward to Pink Venom being released, but it turned out a bit better than I thought it would I guess. I mean yeah they do sound kinda horrible here, and the production isn’t the best, but I will give it credit for having great buildup, and sounding somewhat on par. It doesn’t fit with the vibe of K-Pop though. Also these lyrics are just wack as fuck, so that doesn’t make it any better really. Uh not a great song by any means, but If radio wants to push this whatever I guess. Next.

Next we have a new single off Panic at the discos new album Viva Las Vengeance titled Don’t let the light go out. I listened to the album, and overall it was alright. There were a lot of great songs off of it, but there were also a lot of songs that seemed out of place. This was one of the better ones. The production here is kinda slow, but it honestly fits in really nicely and sounds great. Brendon Urie does a great job on the vocals and the writing is really good. There’s. better and much louder anthems I think that could’ve been great singles, but I can live with this. Next

Alright, big song incoming. I’ve never talked about Zedd before on this blog, but let me just say, as much as I love The Chainsmokers, I also love Zedd. The only difference with him is that I’m not so In love with every single one of his songs from 2018. Happy now was a bit weird with the lullaby production and overuse of autotune, and I actually do kinda still like his remix of Shawn Mendes Lost in Japan, although again I can go without the overuse of the autotune, especially on a great vocalist like Shawn, but his more recent stuff from 2019 and 2020 weren’t bad. If you don’t recall I think I briefly mentioned in my review for So Far So Good, that Zedd’s song 365 actually was my 2nd favorite song of 2019, and it beat Hope by The Chainsmokers(quite shocking if you ask me), but yeah 365 is awesome. It’s one of the many songs I look back on today. Zedd’s 2020 song Funny with Jasmine Thompson was also really good, and now 2 years later we have another one with Maren Morris and some Asian EDM duo called BEAUZ(Bows) and it’s called Make you say. I wasn’t in love with Zedd and Maren’s last collab The Middle. It’s overrated, horrible sounding and so Basic and she’s got too much autotune on her voice that it’s kinda unbearable to even like, but this new song is so nice and refreshing. Maren sounds amazing here and has absolutely no autotune whatsoever on her voice, and Zedd and these other guys did a great job on the production. It’s joyous and happy sounding, the buildup is great, and the drop and breakouts sound amazing, I love the melodies they have in them. There's no annoying ticking clock, which is nice for once and it even has some down pitched vocals after the second chorus. The only thing that I think would’ve made it slightly better is if they went a bit old fashioned chainsmoker style and added a key change into the last drop, because I think with the way Maren uses her vocal power at the end, that would’ve worked nicely. Overall though I love this, and now guess what it gets to compete with? Obsessed, so that’s awesome. Next.

Next we have the return of Sofia Carson on Come back home from the Purple Hearts soundtrack. I really like her song Fools Gold from last year, and I was disappointed it never made it to Hitbound. This song is really nice. Sofia sounds good, and she fits really nicely with the slower romantic production. The writing is also nice, not catchy but very nice. Not much else to say, overall this is great.

Lastly, we have some Afro-pop from Burma Boy, and this is decent, but it’s not the style of music I particularly adore. The production is really cool, and Burma Boy sounds decent here I guess, but I just don’t understand the lyrics or vibe that well. It’s also super forgettable. Not bad, but not so good either.

As for the Hitbound exits, we lost What would you do(again), Staying Alive Toxic energy, American Psycho and Life Sux. I would’ve loved to see What Would you do debut, and so I think it was kinda pointless for it to re-enter, but oh well, at least it’s a good song I can enjoy outside of Hits 1. I really do wish it had become a big hit though because it’s seriously so good. Staying Alive very well possibly could be in the abyss, but as of right now I have no survey still, and I’m not delaying this post just because of one survey not coming though just so I can wait to see one songs fate, so I’ll update y’all on that one next week. I really hope it’s not gone though cuz it’s a great song, and I’ve been really vibin to it the past week. Toxic energy is a great song, and I don’t get why it left, come on Hits 1 stop with this shit, you know it’s a great song, just push it, American Psycho is a great song to, but I think with that one I’m starting to realize that it’s nowhere near Marshmello’s best song, so I’m alright with that one leaving, and Life Sux is great, but it was never gonna be a hit as much as I wanted it to, so yeah.

Best Hitbound debut: Zedd/Maren Morris/BEAUZ-Make you say

Not sure why Her had to come into the abyss, but ok. I’ll talk about the other obvious entry in the exits.

Blurbs

Yay Betty Moved up 5 spots this week. I’d love to see it hit big here, so I’m hoping it can even make a bigger jump next week. This is a great start for it though.

Looks as if Break my soul might be flopping here, as it’s starting to fall hard. I like this song still, but it just doesn’t deserve all the recognition it’s getting I don’t think, so I wouldn’t really mind it dropping more or leaving at this point,

Victoria’s Secret jumped 8 spots off of its debut. As much as I want to like this more, the writing is just too much, but I can’t say I didn’t expect it not to jump though cuz it’s super trendy right now, so yeah.

Easy lover also moved down 4 spots. I would’ve loved to see it rise though, even if it’s not my most favorite song here. Oh well though there’s always next week.

I ain’t worried and Vegas also moved up 5 more spots and almost into the top 10. Let’s make that happen next week. I am really starting to like I ain’t worried a lot now.

Numb is officially in the top 10. Yay, I’d love to see this really smash and make top 5 next.

When your gone finally dropped this week. As much as I love this song, I’m starting to get really sick of it now, so hopefully it drops kinda fast cuz it’s been here way too long.

About Damn Time also dropped. I guess I’m alright with that to, as it’s a bit old.

Supermodel recovered this week. I have a sinking feeling this won’t make top 5 though because it’s really losing traction elsewhere. We’ll see what happens though.

YES, I like you is in the top 5, as well as Left and Right. Let’s goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Sunroof held at #1 and blocked Late night talking. Let’s goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! This is the song of the Summer, so I’m loving that it’s #1 right now. Let’s keep it that way Hits 1.

We lost 2Step and Running up that hill. 2Step was awesome and had a really great run here, even if it didn’t hit #1, so I’m happy with what it did, as for Running up that hill, why the fuck is it back in the abyss. That was one of the stupidest runs I’ve ever seen for a big trending hit song on this countdown. Come on do better next time Hits 1, cuz that was an old song that I actually thought was cool to have trending. Oh well I guess it wasn’t meant to be though.

#1 recommendation for Hits 1: Wrabel/Sadie Jean-Hurts like Hell

Thanks for reading and I’ll see y’all in the next one.

2023’s album of the Summer: Album Review: The Chainsmokers: Summertime Friends

Tiesto/Tate McRae(6): Week of April, 29th 2023

Wow, this community is deserted. Why did I leave all of sudden with no word
