Debuts

Alright so before we get into anything here. I just wanted to say that with everything that debuted this week. I literally could not decide what I was gonna end up being my best countdown song. I’m kinda only supposed to have 1, but this week I went out of my comfort zone a bit because there were so many good debuts that I ended up giving it to 2 new songs

First we have newcomer GAYLE, who’s only 17 years old and thanks to TikTok this very very funny and entertaining song has managed to not only debut here but its also rapidly getting radio adds elsewhere, and I’m kinda shocked to say this but its #2 on the Apple Music pop charts right now, only being beaten by Easy on Me. This ones called abcdefu, and like I said it’s hilarious, and probably the most funny song I’ve heard all year long actually. GAYLE has a really great voice here, and she really shows that in the verses. The chorus is of course the best part of the song though and that’s where she transitions her voice from regular laid back vocals to angry vocals. The production here is very good for a pop-punk song and of course the lyrics are just too funny to be true I mean I gotta feel kinda bad for whoever the Ex-boyfriend is that this is about(if there is one) because he’s getting dissed on a whole other level here. The only weird thing I will say about this(and it’s a Hits 1 thing) is that they have their own edit for this and literally at the end of the song it bleeps out the word Fuck, in the line,” You can all fuck off.” While during the rest of the song they just replace fuck with F. That’s kinda weird to me but it makes it twice as funny so whatever Hits 1 wants to do with it I’m cool with. Great song.

Next we have the bad debut of the week by a DJ named ACRAZE(ah craze) and Cherish with the remixed version of Do it to It. Now I haven’t heard the original version of this from 2006 but I’m confident that when I do look it up it’ll be better than this. So first off this is uncreative it’s one of those stupid dance songs that takes random lines from a song and samples them over and over and over. Now someone remind me again why anyone would find that appealing cuz I sure as hell don’t. Cherish as a girl group doesn’t sound really that great here either, they just don’t mix well with this heat, and speaking of the beat it’s not really good. I mean I generally like house music but this yeah no. I like house beats that specifically start out slow and  have great build up, this has neither of those things. Songs that I like that have those things for example are mainly the ones from Tiesto and Regard that I revised earlier in the year, so because this doesn’t have that buildup that those other songs do it makes it sound more like an actual song that’s meant for a club(like all house songs are) and not one that’s meant for radio. Overall not really my favorite dance song.

Alright next we got one of my favorite songs right now. It’ll be Okay from Shawn Mendes and I reviewed this one last week so I’ll try to keep this very brief. Shawn sounds amazing here as he always has, and production wise it’s really slow but it evolves very smoothly and I really like that they incorporated some drums into it. Lyrically I really feel this one. He did an amazing job writing this after his breakup with Camilla Cabello and I can really tell. Most of these lyrics are also very catchy to or they fit in perfectly with the song. This is so good. Probably the best he’s released since Senorita, which kinda makes me sad cuz that’s where the relationship started. Oh well though it’s over now. Anyways amazing song.Next.

Ok well next we have my other song I’ll tie with it’ll be Okay for the best song on the countdown. This ones called Ghost town by Benson Boone. Now first off I’m just gonna say if You like recorded version of this check out the live version on YouTube cuz it’s a really good version of the song, and it sounds a lot better, but the original recording still sounds amazing. Now I looked into who this guy was because I was really curious after this grew on Me. Benson Boone is a 19 year old singer/songwriter from Washington State and he got his start in music on American Idol, but dropped out cuz he said it just didn’t feel right to him being on the show. He then went on to sign with Dan Reynolds record label Warner Records  and wrote this song, and now I see this becoming a hit given its really high debut here. Benson Boone is an absolutely amazing vocalist here and he sounds amazing, production wise this is another slow ballad, but it’s very simple and good and it’s got a great little melody to it. The writing here is really good to and it’s a very creative take on heartbreak. I’ve been loving this so much that I’ve practiced singing it over the past few weeks, and I’m not as good of a singer as this guy is but it’s a very great song to sing just saying. Great debut, and I hope it can stick around and do something here.

another ballad by another one of my favorite artist Oh My God! Next we have debuting all the way up at #15 Tate McRae with her song Feel like shit. This one isn’t really gaining traction elsewhere but I really wish it was cuz it’s very good. This is about Tates first breakup with am ex and how she felt after it happened, and she did a great job writing this. The lyrics here are very well written and it really shows by her emotions in her vocals here, she really does show off her voice here and she sounds really good. The production is nice to, it’s another slow ballad but it does have a bit of a beat to it actually. Very nicely written and well done song by my most streamed artist of 2021.

Lastly we have a song that’s been in the abyss for nearly 3 months now, but it finally managed to debut this week. It’s called I feel good by Pitbul/Anthony Watts/DJ white shadow. I’ve always loved Pitbuls music and his style is really something unique. He sounds great here and has great flow in the verses and Anthony Watts has a really good voice in the chorus. Lyrically it’s catchy and the lyrics are all about having fun and partying which I love. DJ White Shadow did a great job production wise here and it really shows as he produced this to sound like a Miami club style song and that’s what I think of when I think Pitbul. I also love the incorporation of the horns, it just makes it sound a lot more fun and unique. Overall great debut.

Best countdown debut: It’s so close but Shawn Mendes-It’ll be Okay.

Biggest jumps of the week: Lil Nas X-That’s what I want & Justin Beiber-Ghost(+1) This is kinda laughable honestly. The only notable thing Worth mentioning is that Ghost is now in the top 5. Nice job apparently Hits 1 loves Justin now.

Biggest drop of the week: Tai Verdes-Let’s go to Hell(-7) This literally dropped right when I upgrade it(insert facepalm here) this is Tai’s best song way better than A-O-K.

Ok so first off you’ll probably realize that just like the countdown I have 3 songs here that are highlighted purple. That wasn’t how I planned to do this but somehow it’ll be Okay and Ghost town as well as do it to it and bite me ended up on here again somehow, so that’s not my problem that’s a hits 1 problem for this one.

Alright I think I’ll go in order but the only exception is I’m gonna save the big one for last because I’m gonna write a shit ton of stuff about it probably.

Alright first off we have more Billie Eilish, and this is not what I asked for from her at all. This is yet another slow ballad, and not a good sounding one either. The production is slow and doesn’t really sound good with the Ukulele, and Billie sounds so weird here she doesn’t even sound like her normal voice. The lyrics here are very questionable here to and they’re just not something I’d wanna hear in a song especially a radio one. Yeah let’s hope she doesn’t perform this one on SNL. I’ll pass.

Next we’ve got more Monsta X, who just released their debut album The Dreaming yesterday. This is their follow up to One day I guess called You problem and it’s very good. The guys all sound great here and I’m really digging the production it’s very groovy. I’d say this is better than most stuff BTS makes, with the exception being Dynamite. I hope this blows up everywhere and I actually kinda hear that the album is gonna be challenging Juice wrlds new album for the top of the album charts. With one song featuring BTS on that album though I’m not sure. Anyways great song.

Next we have the very highly acclaimed song from SZA called I hate You and this is not really the best thing ever so I’m not sure why people love this. SZA sounds decent here but I just can’t get into her R&B type style cuz it’s really boring to listen to. The production is pretty good though so that makes it a bit better. Overall really forgettable though.

Alright so next we have what I think might be the next one to watch(although it hasn’t been confirmed yet) this ones called WYD now From Sadie Jean. This is really good actually the nice ballad production is great and she sounds good throughout the entire thing, and lyrically it’s good and catchy. Not a horrible song

Alright next we have a song that’s been blowing up TikTok lately called Big energy by latto. I don’t usually like songs like this but this is actually pretty solid. The production is nice and vibey and Latto has some great flow although her voice isn’t the best. Lyrically it’s a bit sexual but I can deal with it cuz it’s not too bad. Overall solid song.

Alright so now we get to the big song of the week. I’ve been hyping up this one on my social media lately, and I never actually thought it would make it to Hits 1, in fact I was so unconfident that I almost mentioned Mikey Piff and Hits 1 in a comment on my Instagram suggesting that they get this song, I ended up hearing it on Hits 1 before I got to do that though, and y’all should’ve seen my reaction when I heard this for the first time on Hits 1, I’m literally working out the other day and I hear the guitar strums to this and my face just fuckin went into this shocked state and I literally started sweating my ass off(like I wasn’t doing that already) and of course my heart started beating really really fast and then I realized just how much I loved it, it’s a great workout song and overall probably the best song out there right now. This is the main single(I think) off of Juice wrlds 2nd post humerous album Fighting Demons that dropped yesterday and this is easily the best song on the album, and before I get into it I just wanna mention that the album is a pretty good album actually, it’s kinda brutal to listen to at times cuz literally it’s about all the shit and issues that he’s been through but that’s the reason why I love it and why I love Juices music In general because even though I’m not suffering from any of the shit he suffered from I feel as if his music is very relatable to people and that it helps people realize that not everyone is perfect and that not all people have a great life. Like people really could be going through hard times and You just don’t know it, and juice was one of those people, but You kinda knew he was going through shit cuz he always spoke about it in his songs. I’ve also seen lots of people say that his music helped them while they were going through hard times, so I think that really speaks to Me that this guy was truly a guy who wanted to help people out and talk about his shit even though he knew he was gonna probably die. On that note before I get into the song I wanted to say long love the legend and R.I.P 🙏 he’s truly an artist who’s never gonna be forgotten and he’s probably looking down on everyone right now who was a part of his really short life and his soul is probably touched because all this the song itself really sparked something in my heart for all those reasons and just cuz it’s such a great sounding song, and usually I wouldn’t be saying that about songs, but this one is like that and that hasn’t happened for me since Shawn and Camilla released Senorita in 2019, I mean not even my #1 song of 2021 can do what this song did to Me because it truly made me feel touched and it made me feel good also. I’ve had this on repeat ever since it came out a week ago, so yeah that’s my big whole thing about why I love juice but let’s get into the song itself. Juice sounds amazing here and he does a great job with his pace of singing. Justin Beiber sounds amazing here also, he really did pitch in with this one with a catchy verse and he sounds amazing here as well. The lyrics are all great. They really just talk about Juices first love and kinda how his careers started, while keeping in mind his issues, so I think it’s creative to an extent that he mentions he was taking drugs here, although hits 1 edits all the drug references. The lyrics overall are just really catchy and great and they show what problems juice was fighting. The beat here is very good to, I love how it only get very bassey in the middle of the Chorus and verses and the transitions in that instrumental sound perfect. It also has the right amount of bass for when I listen to it so it doesn’t shake too much and that’s something I really like compared to something like Way 2 sexy for example that I feel has too much bass. Anyways amazing song hopefully it’ll do well. Spoiler alert it probably will.

Our Hitbound exits are Sabotage, Alone and Let You. I don’t really care about any of them now that Wandered to L.A is here although it could’ve been nice to see Alone debut.

By reading all of that I think y’all know what the best debut was.

Some of these are starting to make moves on Mediabase charts but not by much. Except for Have Mercy.

Songs that need to debut Hitbound to make sense.

Charli XCX-Good days

TWICE-The feels

Blxst/Ty Dolla $ign/Tyga-Chosen

Farruko-Papas

Same songs as last week.

Blurbs

The countdown honestly was kinda lame except for the debuts. The only real thing worth mentioning is that Smokin out the window dropped 6 spots this week. That shouldn’t be happening it’s such a great song.

Bite Me and One day have been really growing non Me also.

Happier than ever and U Gurl also dropped 3 spots each. I don’t really care about either unless Male fantasy replaces Happier than ever.

Shivers is #1 for the 8th week in a row now. You’ve gotta be kidding Me this has to drop next week it can’t dethrone Good 4 u and it’s record of 9 weeks at #1. I don’t want Ed Sheeran being #1 of the year. Let’s hope that something else can get their and I’m hoping it’s either That’s what I want or Ghost cuz I just don’t see Adele or Elton John going to #1 at this point as both have been blocked out now.

As for the exits we lost away 2 sexy, industry baby, Fancy like, oh My God, life goes on, and The outside. Way 2 sexy and Industry baby I hate to see go, but I know that Juice wrld is probably gonna debut soon so that’s good, they were both great songs though and they will be missed. Fancy like I didn’t really like at first but I did come around to it, but I’d prefer it if they got rid of U Gurl instead and has kept it a bit longer. The other 3 are in the abyss and I really do wish they’d just give up on Life goes on cuz Ir doesn’t seem like it’s popular so it’d probably be a great decision at this point.

#1 recommendation for Hits 1: Juice wrld-Already dead

Leave some comments down below and let me know what y’all thought of this very weird countdown.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see y’all in my next post(which should be my top 40 of the year)

Comments

  1. I don't think Shivers can compete for Hits 1's top 30 this year unless it exits the countdown in like 2 weeks.

Tiesto/Tate McRae(6): Week of April, 29th 2023

Wow, this community is deserted. Why did I leave all of sudden with no word
