Debuts

Alright we have an interesting set of debuts to say the least this week so let’s dive in. First we have Message in a bottle by Taylor Swift, and I’m a bit shocked this didn’t debut much higher given this is Hits 1 and that they love Taylor Swift. This is pretty much an awesome song. Taylor sounds great here and I really like the 2012 style production it really fits in not only with the vibe of the song but with the vibe of this album Also because of the fact that it was originally released in 2012. I love the story that the lyrics tell also, she got very creative when writing this and I can really tell by the lyrics. Overall awesome song.

Next we have a really horrible country song that comes to us called U Gurl from Walker Hayes. Now I love country music, personally I grew up on country before I got into pop and rap and alternative, but I’m sorry this just does not do it for me. First off while this heat sounds somewhat country, it just sounds really out of whack here. It really makes me feel like he was going for more of a pop feel and not a country feel and that’s just not good when it comes to country. If your gonna be country put the song to a country beat dude cuz this does not do it for me. Then we get the problem of Walker Hayes himself. He’s pretty much talking half the damn time and only singing in the chorus and that just makes this very boring to listen to. In the chorus when he does sing he’s not really that incredible(which isn’t surprising since he’s the same guy who sang fancy like and since that took a while to grow on me) Lyrically I get what he was going on for musically but it’s just not very appealing to me. Overall probably the worst country song I’ve actually ever heard in my life. I really think the country industry needs to change something now cuz the more pop like stuff country singers produce isn’t hitting hard with me.

Alright well holy shit. I really did not expect to have 3 higher ranked debuts this week and this next one by far i think is probably the most surprising one of the whole year. Alright so maybe some y’all remember Monsta X, if you haven’t heard of them they’re a newer K-pop band, but they’re not as popular as BTS for that reason. They have some really good songs thought and personally I’d say they’re way better than BTS(at least they don’t manipulate the Hot 100) anyways maybe if you’re here from my social media maybe You remember I did actually review a few songs from these guys the first was in October 2019 called Who do You love with rapper French Montana and the other one was in March of 2020 called You can’t hold my heart, and that song was really good. They were both Hitbound dropouts though but luckily like right when I started this blog they released a new song called One Day and after a very long time hanging around in both Hitbound and the abyss it finally debuts this week at #19. This is pretty good for a K-pop song I like the lyrics a lot and they’re definitely very catchy. The guys in Monsta X sounds pretty good here and production wise while I think it can be a bit better it’s still really nice and it has a chill vibe which is nice. My only issue with this is that I wish it was longer. It’s about 2 and a half minutes and when I like a song I want it to be way longer than that. Overall pretty good debut though.

Beat countdown debut: Taylor Swift-Mesaage in a bottle

Biggest Jump of the week: Ed Sheeran-Overpass Graffiti(+9) I’m glad this is jumping at a really fast rate, because I can’t get enough of this song, although if certain songs from the abyss end up debuting next week we’re gonna be having a battle for my favorite countdown song.

Biggest drop of the week: Lil Nas X/Jack Harlow-Industry baby(-10) I’m a bit disappointed by this but as long as that’s what I want is in the top 5 then I guess I’m ok with this.

Debuts

Alright only 2 debuts this week(and I kinda expected them to debut to so that’s cool) first we have another new song from Adele called Oh My God. This is pretty solid. Adele sounds great here and I like how it’s upbeat compared to Easy on Me. Lyrically I didn’t really pay attention to it so I’ll have to listen again but it sounded good so that’s a great sign.

Alright so more hard decisions this week with Hitbound. Alright so I first heard about this song from one of our fellow bloggers actually so shout out to Hunter AKA DeathDefyingDemon for showing me this one. This is called abcdefu and it’s by some singer named GAYLE. This is really good. GAYLE sounds awesome here and the production is really cool and very well produced. Lyrically well it’s very funny but it also has a great message to it in a way. Of course the radio edit isn’t nearly as good but for what it is it’s pretty worth it to want to listen to compared to some other radio edits I’ve heard. Overall awesome song,

Ghost town has grown on me so much. I’ve actually been singing this song the past few nights. I’m not gonna post a cover of me singing it though, sorry I get nervous when I sing in front of people although I have a decent voice,

As for the Hitbound exits we lost Feel like shit and Money. Feel like shit is now in the abyss since it has spins and I’m really hoping Money is gone for good this time cuz it’s really obnoxious.

Hitbound ranking(not including countdown songs)

Awful

#13 Amaarae/Kali Uchis/Moily-Sad girlz luv money

#12 Oliver Tree-Life goes on

#11 ACRAZE/Cherish-Do it to it

#10 JP Saxe-Soft landing

#9 Chloe-Have mercy

Good/Solid

#8 Sean Paul/Sia-Dynamite

#7 Iann Dior-Let You

#6 Adele-Oh My God

Great

#5?88Rising/BBi/The weekend

#4 Maaked Wolf/Bebe Rexha-It’s You, not me(Sabotage)

#3 Trevor Daniel-Alone

#2 GAYLE-abcdefu

Beat song on Hitbound

#1 Benson Boone-Ghost town

The abyss

Adele-Can I get it

bbno$/Rich Brian-Edamame

Anitta/Saweetie-Faking Love

Tate McRae-Feel like shit(radio edit)

Pitbull/Anthony Watts/DJ White Shadow-I feel good

The abyss list is shorter this week wow! I still haven’t listened to Can I get it but I really don’t think it to debut at this point because of Oh My God, I could be wrong though. Other than that I just downgraded I feel good because Feel like shit ended up here and of course I’m loving this song so why not, also is I feel good ever gonna debut? I hope it does it would kinda suck to see it not.

Hitbound songs that make sense being here

Adele-Oh My God

Oliver Tree-Life goes on

Sean Paul/Sia-Dynamite

Chloe-Have mercy

88Rising/BiBi-The weekend

Trevor Daniel-Alone

GAYLE-abcdefu(radio edit)

Benson Boone-Ghost town

ACRAZE/Cherish-Do it to it

So we actually have quite a bit of Hitbound songs that I can add to the make sense list this week. Oh My God is impacting, Dynamite is now in the mediabase top 50, as well as The weekend, Ghost town and Do it to it. abcdefu is also expected to impact pop stations on December 7th.

Songs that need to debut Hitbound to make sense.

Charli XCX-Good days

TWICE-The feels

Blxst/Ty Dolla $ign/Tyga-Chosen

Farruko-Papas

I actually got the chance to listen to both Chosen and Papas this week. Overall I don’t think Hits 1 is gonna go for either of them but they’re alright songs. Chosen is really good and papas has a really great beat but I don’t really like the Latin it’s just not my thing.

Blurbs

I’m not sure why The outside had to fall off it’s debut that was a bit stupid.

Smokin out the window jumped again which is nice to see.

I’m not sure why one right now is only at #20 because it has a lot more AirPlay than a song should have that’s at #20.

Memory dropped. Yay we’ll hopefully get rid of this forgetful song soon.

Moth to a flame jumped, and I was almost so close on my predictions I was one number off from where it ended up.

Need to know dropped and hopefully it keeps dropping.

Better days is now in the top 10. I can really see this one hitting the top 5 soon at the rate it’s rising.

That’s what I want is now in the top 5. That’s awesome let’s hope it can get higher(although we all know this won’t be #1

Easy on Me is at #2 will it finally hit #1 for a very long period of time next week.

Shivers now remains #1 for the 6th week in a row and now tied for 2nd longest #1 of the year along with Stay, I hope that is this makes Hits 1s year end list though that stay can outnumber it because it’s been around longer.

As for the exits we have Run, A-O-K and Beggin. Run was amazing but it wasn’t destined to last with Message in a bottle coming in. A-O-K I actually hated at first not grew in to and it had a really great run here even with the remix so I’m pretty happy about that and it will be missed. Oh man did they really have to get rid of Beggin so quickly though. It was such a good song. I’m a bit disappointed it didn’t hit top 5 but oh well I guess. It will be missed.

#1 recommendation for Hits 1: Juice wrld-Already dead

Leave y’all’s favorite and least favorite picks in the comments and I’ll make sure to get to everyone.
