Ed Sheeran(4): Week of November 13th 2021

Ed Sheeran(5) Week of November 13th 2021

Hey guys what’s up. I’m sorry this post is a bit late I was a bit busy with more important things this weekend. Just a few things before we dive into the countdown. First This weeks Hitbound ranking will be a bit incomplete if You Notice and that’s because 3 songs that debuted ended up airing both the countdown and Hitbound, so I included those songs in the Hitbound list, but didn’t include them in the ranking. Second I want y’all’s opinions for 2 things first off, how would y’all feel at the end of each week if I posted really quick countdown predictions based on AirPlay and other things for the whole countdown and maybe Hitbound debuts and exits. I’ve see another blogger do predictions and I think it’s very cool, although most times people predict the countdown wrong, I think it would just be fun to do though, so let me know your thoughts in the comments. Another thing I’d like is to have a profile picture for Blogger, but I’m not sure what I want to put. I know most people here don’t show their faces and quite frankly I don’t really want to at this moment, so for right now it would have to be something like an animated cartoon picture or something else. Give me some thoughts and suggestions down in the comments if you think of any. Also I’ll be finalizing my top 40 of the year later this week and next week and I’ll have my plans for Christmas and the schedule probably next week so I’ll give y’all an update on year end stuff then. As for right now though this weeks countdown was great and active and we had some great Hitbound debuts(aside from 2) that really forced some hard decisions on me as you’ll read about when y’all get there, anyways I’ll stop talking(or typing) and now let’s get into the review, starting with our exits for the week.

Debuts

Alright so surprisingly enough 3 out of the 5 entrants this week aired both the countdown and Hitbound?????, but before we get into those we’ve got Happier than ever returning to the countdown this weekend. I don’t really mind that this is here as it’s a pretty good song. I don’t think it’s really gonna do anything big though while it’s here, I’ll take it though.

Our first actual debut is Let’s go to Hell by Tai Verdes. This is pretty good. I feel like it’s grown on me a bit throughout the week, but I’ll have to give it more listens in order to upgrade it to Great. Tai sounds really good here vocally and the production here is solid. Lyrically it’s also pretty good and creative. My only small issue is that I feel it’s a bit too short, whenever I listen to this it feels just like a blur to me it’s over that quickly, so I wish it was a bit longer, overall not bad though.

Next up is the song I was dreading to have to review when it debuted but thankfully it didn’t debut that high. It’s life goes on by Oliver Tree. Just plainly put this song is annoying and complete shit. Oliver’s voice is not good, and lyrically it’s annoying as hell cuz he just keeps repeating the same damn line I don’t know how many times in the chorus. The production is also very weird and just sounds shitty, especially the ending where it slows down. Overall we don’t need this here and we all know why it’s here, cuz of TikTok. Next.

Up next is the new collab from Post Malone and The Weeknd who are two of my favorite artists, and they’re collabing on One right now. This is really great. The Weeknd sounds really good here and Post Malone sounds amazing. Production wise this is very awesome and I feel like it fits both their voices very well. Lyrically I really had to analyze this a bit more to understand what this was about, but that I’ve heard it a bunch of times I understand it now and the lyrics are actually very good and creative the way they wrote them, especially in the chorus. Overall awesome song.

Our last debut is Silk Sonics new song called Smokin out the window. This is really awesome to. First off the production sounds very good, and I like how it sounds more like Leave the door open more than skate because I think that it  just sounds more radio friendly. Bruno and Anderson Paac do a great job vocally here, and they’ve got some really great chemistry in the chorus. Lyrically it’s pretty good to and a bit catchy. Overall another really good debut.

Best Countdown debut  Post Malone/The weeknd-One right now

Biggest Jump of the week: NEIKED/Mae Muller/Polo G-Better days(+10)  This is great. I’m really loving this song, and I can’t believe this jumped as much as it did for a one to watch song. I can definitely see this becoming big here as it is everywhere else.

Biggest Drop of the week: The Kid Laroi/Justin Beiber-Stay(-16)  Nooooooooooooooooooooo! This song is still so good. It has been here for a long time though, at least I know what’s gonna be honored as my favorite song though once this leaves.

Debuts

Why did Money Re-enter, we don’t need this non-sense here.

We’ve got a very interesting set of debuts this week starting off with the return of Avril Lavigne who I forget who the hell is half the time I hear her name. If you don’t know her she had a bunch of really high charting songs in the early 2000s and 2010s she’s most known for her song called complicated from 2002 and that song is really good, I used to hear it all the time on my cities hot AC station before I started listening to Hits 1. Anyways she’s back this week with a new song called Bite me. First off her voice is really high pitched and annoying, and that’s the main reason I can’t stand this song. She just sounds too horrible with the pitchiness here. Lyrically it’s catchy but not too good either and production wise it’s actually really good. If it was sung by someone else I’d probably be alright with this but for right now no thanks I’ll pass.

Next we have a song that forced a really really hard decision on me and you’ll find out why in the next few reviews, but this is a new song off Taylor Swifts re-recorded version of Red which dropped yesterday and it’s called Run and it features Ed Sheeran. I’ve been waiting to hear this since it was first announced to be on the album and not surprisingly it’s amazing. Production wise it’s slow and has that folklorish feel that’s been on Taylor’s recent albums, and it fits in really well here. Taylor sounds amazing here and Ed Sheeran really does shine here also. He does a great job on backup vocals and their chemistry here is probably the best I’ve ever heard in a song. Lyrically it’s got a great story behind it to, it’s a bit sad but really great. I’m already excited because I know this will be #1 heee, unless Adele blocks it of course.

Next we have what’s said to the next single from Twenty one pilots(at least for alternative radio) called The outside. This is really good, but not as good as Saturday or Shy away. The lyrics are catchy here especially in the chorus and the vocals are pretty good. Production wise it’s good, but not as good as Saturday or shy away. I’ll definitely take it over this next song though.

Alright so JP Saxe has a new song out this week called Soft landing and If you don’t remember he had a song out last year called if the world was ending and the only true reason I liked it was Because it had Julia Michaels in it and I really just like her voice. This is JPs new song called Soft landing though and it sucks. He’s got such a monotone and lame voice that I don’t understand exactly why people like his music. It’s so boring. Production wise it does have a bass line which is good but it’s just very minimal production at its best and that’s just not something I like. It’s so forgettable also. Let’s not have this debut please. Next.

Next we have Benson Boone with Ghost town and this is quite good actually. I didn’t like the first few lines when I first heard it but it got better as the song progressed. Benson sounds pretty good here and unlike the last song this one has some catchy lyrics and it’s more memorable. Production wise it’s just a piano ballad, so not much going on in that department, overall not the worst thing I’ve heard.

Alright this was where I had my hard decision this week. This next song is a new one from Tate McRae and let’s just say she’s like my celebrity crush right now. She’s kinda hot not gonna lie. Anyways this is her new song called Feel like shit although the radio edit is called Feel like this. This is really amazing also. It’s not as upbeat or good as You or Working but for a slow song it’s really great. The production is good and it actually has a bit of a beat in the chorus which I like. Tate sounds amazing here and I really do love her voice. The lyrics are also very good and catchy and they’re very very relatable to anyone who’s gone through a breakup(like myself). Overall awesome song but I’m sorry Tate as much as I love your music I wouldn’t put this over Run, the Motto or even MAMMAMIA.

As for the exits we have Boyz, Toxic, Twinnem, overpass Graffiti,Telepath and Alone. Boyz and toxic I don’t care about cuz I never really liked them. TWINNEM was good but I can live without it, as much as I love overpass Graffiti it was replaced by Run so I don’t really mind even though it was a great song. I hope Telepath isn’t gone considering how much hits 1 loves Conan Gray, because it’s a great song so I hope it ends up in the abyss, and the same thing goes for alone as well.

Best Hitbound debut:  Taylor Swift/Ed Sheeran-Run

Hitbound Ranking (not counting the countdown songs)

Awful

# 13 LISA-Money

#12 JP Saxe-Soft landing

#11 Avril Lavigne-Bite Me

Decent

#10 Chloe-Have Mercy

Good/Solid

#9 Sean Paul/Sia-Dynamite

Great

#8 88Rising/BiBi-The weekend

#7 Benson Boone-Ghost town

#6 Nesa Barrett-I hope ur miserable until ur dead

#5 Twenty one pilots-The outside

#4 Tate McRae-Feel like shit

#3 Maneskin-MAMMAMIA

#2 Tiesto/Ava Max-The Motto

Best song on Hitbound

#1 Taylor Swift/Ed Sheeran-Run

The Abyss

Wizkid/Justin Beiber/Tems-Essence

Cheat codes/Gray/Tyson Ritter-Hurricane

Anitta/Saweetie-Faking love

Pitbull/Anthony Watts/DJ White shadow-I feel good

Kacy Musgraves-Justified

Monsta X-One day

Walker Hayes-U Gurl

Hurricane by cheat codes, Faking love and justified are still here since they didn’t get a lot of time on the countdown. I highly doubt Justified and Hurricane will re-enter but we’ll see what happens. Faking love should re-enter though. U Gurl also started getting spins this week, so it’ll probably debut soon. Kanye’s Hurricane and Hit it have left though which kinda sucks especially for Hit it cuz it was really good and is actually becoming kinda popular outside of Hits 1 now.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Telepath ended up in the abyss or Alone.

Hitbound songs that make sense being here.

Chloe-Havw mercy

Nesa Barrett-I hope ur miserable until ur dead

Lisa-Money

Not a lot of songs make sense being on Hitbound right now, although I do hope that one of the debuts from this week will be released so we can get more songs that make sense. As of now from what I’ve heard Run is not even a single, but Message in a bottle is, so I’m not sure If Run will make it elsewhere, it probably will here though because this is Hits 1 and because it’s Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran of course.

Songs that need to debut to make Hitbound make sense.

Charli XCX-Good days

TWICE-The feels

Blxst/Ty Dolla $ign/Tyga-Chosen

Farruko-Papas

Good days, the feels and chosen I will probably take off this list next week if they don’t start moving up on the mediabase top 40. Papas I’ll keep here until it either debuts AT40 or leaves as an On the verge track.

Blurbs

Way 2 sexy dropped back down into the bottom 5. Oh well I guess it’s time here is almost up. At least they gave it some success though compared to other Drake songs.

On the other hand Edamame was the rap song that jumped this week instead. This didn’t have to happen.

Angel baby got a nice boost this week. I’m glad to see that.

Moth to a flame also jumped. I love to see The Weeknd jumping up and getting some success.

On a bad note though Meet Me at our spot jumped. I keep thinking I’ll eventually grow into this song but nope it just hasn’t happened yet and I don’t see the point of it becoming so big and popular.

Hits 1 switched back to the original version of A-O-K, which sucks cuz I really liked the remix. It also got the a huge drop, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this leaves soon.

At this point Traitor isn’t gonna be a top 5 hit most likely.

I love to see Beggin making a comeback.

Memory really doesn’t need to be in the top 10 as I forget it exists every time I hear it.

Ghost got a nice jump into the top 10. Could this be another top 5 hit for Beiber?

Fancy like is already fading elsewhere so I don’t mind it dropping at this point.

Who’s in your head got a nice jump to #6. I think this will definitely be top 5 next week.

Interesting to see Saturday back in the top 5. This one is also fading elsewhere.

Of course we can’t let industry baby hit #1 cuz this is Hits 1 we’re talking about where they always screw rappers. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Cold heart is back at #2. I guess I’m ok with that cuz it’s pretty good,

Shivers is #1 again, which is surprising considering how popular Easy on me is. I’ll take it though I guess.

As for the the exits we lost Faking love, Hurricane, Bad habits, paralyzed and Take my breath. The first 2 are in the abyss but they really should’ve lasted longer on the countdown. Paralyzed was just another one to watch, so I knew it wouldn’t be here for long, and Take my breath and Bad habits were both bound to leave at some point, the latter having 5 weeks at #1. These songs were really great and they’ll be missed especially take my breath.

#1 recommendation dor Hits 1: Juice wrld-Already dead.

Leave y’all’s thoughts and favorite picks in the comments and I’ll try and respond to all of them.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see y’all in the next one.
