 Ed Sheeran(3): Week of November, 6th 2021

Hey guys what’s up. This weeks countdown was very boring and only a few interesting things happened. Just one announcement before we get into it. I’ve been having a big issue with spam over the past week and it’s forced me to decide to turn on comment moderation for my blog, so if You do decide to leave comments from now on you’ll have to leave it to be approved by me, so just note that if you leave a comment and just know that I’ll get to everyone’s comments eventually as I check for new comments every day. With that being said let’s get into the countdown.

Debuts

Well we’re kicking it off with a couple of songs debuting that I revised the other night on my Instagram for last weeks Hitbound list(if y’all haven’t already give me a follow treys_music_reviews) We start with faking love by Anitta and Saweetie. This is really good. Anitta sounds good here and I like the added verse from Sawetie. The production is pretty good to, although right after the chorus it can get a bit annoying but overall that does really bring the song down for me. Nice song.

Our other Debut comes from Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd it’s called Moth to a flame, and I love it. Swedish house mafia did a great job with the production here, I love the buildup and how it transitions from Dark Vube to 80s vibe in the choruses. The Weeknd fits in very well with both those things and he doesn’t sound bad her at all. Lyrically I love the story also. Overall this is awesome. Let’s hope it can do well here.

Best  countdown Debut-Swedish House Mafia/The weeknd-Moth to a flame

Biggest Jump of the week  Kane Brown/Blackbear-Memory. I don’t really see why this had to jump, it’s so forgettable and correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure this is losing traction or is already dead elsewhere.

Biggest Drop of the week  The Weeknd-Take my breath. This  took a big fall this week. Oh well at least we have Moth to flame and as for Hitbound One right now

Debuts

We have an interesting list of debuts this week. Kicking it off with Toxic from some guy named BoyWithUke. This is decent I guess. The production is alright and he sounds good in parts but there’s also parts where he doesn’t sound so good either. It’s also a bit forgettable. This could grow on me but we’ll see.

Next we have another song from Tai Verdes called Let’s go to Hell. This is pretty good. I can’t tell if I like this more than A-O-K but we’ll see. Tai sounds alright here and the lyrics are really good and interesting. The production is also good. It’s not as memorable as A-O-K is though. Despite that it’s a good song though.

I was really dreading to have to listen to this next song but now that I’ve heard I think I can say that dread is gone. This is by female rapper Coi Leroy and it’s called TWINNEM(pronounced Twin in em) this is actually solid for the most part. Coi Leroy sounds good here actually and the lyrics are really catchy. The production is Okay but I feel it could’ve been amped up a bit more to make it sound better. Not a bad song overall though.

Next we have Chloe with Have Mercy and this song is decent at best. First off the beginning of the chorus with the guy saying,”Lord Have Mercy,” is really weird. That’s the weirdest way I’ve ever heard a song start a chorus. Chloe sounds alright but not great here especially in the verse. The lyrics are really catchy though in the chorus and the production is nice and well produced. Overall this is not the worst but not the best either.

Next we have Silk Sonics new single called Smokin out the window. This is really good. Bruno Mars sounds amazing here and Anderson Paac doesn’t sound bad either. The lyrics are pretty good and production wise it sounds like Leave the door open a bit more than Skate which I like. Overall not bad.

Alright I spent a whole paragraph last week yapping about Regard just so we could lose Signals to this next song. If you saw my Instagram review for signals the other night I mentioned that in it seems as Hits 1 has Hated Tiesto over the past year and the only real EDM producer they’ve liked or Regard. This is funny cuz now we lost Regard to Tiesto and his new song with Ava Max called The Motto. First off since Tiesto hasn’t been on the the countdown this year let me say I hope with Ava Max on this song that voters will come through and he’ll finally get a debut on the countdown for the first time in 3 years. The production from Tiesto is awesome here. The buildup sounds great and it’s nice and upbeat. Ava Max doesn’t sound horrible here, although there are times where she’s sounded better. One thing I love about this though(and someone can correct me if I’m wrong) is that Ava Max has absolutely no annoying effects on her voice(like you’d expect in all Tiesto songs) she’s not down pitched, I don’t hear a trace of auto tune and she pretty much sounds really good here. The lyrics are awesome to and really catchy. Let’s hope this pulls through to the countdown.

Well if it’s obvious something came out of my Instagram reviews this week, it’s that I recommended this next song to debut Hitbound. It’s called Telepath and it’s by Conan Gray. This is really good. The 80s style production is really good and Conan sounds good for the most part. Sometimes he hounds bad in certain parts but for the most part he sounds good. It’s really catchy also. Overall not bad.

Last but most certainly not least we have a new song from Post Malone and The Weeknd called One right now. This is awesome. The Weeknd sounds great in the chorus and Post doesn’t sound bad in the verse. Lyrically it’s pretty  good and catchy. The production is really good to. It’s another one of those 80s type songs. Overall not bad at all.

As for the exits we lost Present, Signals, U Gurl, Darling and Money. While I’d like to think some of these are probably in The abyss, they’re probably not(unless they start getting AirPlay next week) Present was just yeeted off and never even got a chance, same with signals(although that was kinda destined to happened since The Motto debuted) U Gurl wasn’t that great so I don’t care. Darling was good but it was never destined to be a hit so I guess I’m fine with that, and Money better be gone, although it wouldn’t surprise me if it was in the abyss because it’s being released to radio This Tuesday.

Beat Hitbound Debut  Tiesto/Ava Max-The Motto(it was very close though)

The abyss

Wizkid/Justin Beiber/Tems-Essence

Billie Eilish-Happier than ever

Black eyed peas/Saweetie/LeLe Pons-Hit it

Kanye West/The weeknd/Lil baby-Hurricane

Pitbull/Anthony Watts/DJ White shadow-I feel good

Monsta X-One day

I’m really surprised One day didn’t debut because apparently it got a lot of AirPlay this week, although I didn’t start hearing it until Thursday.

Hitbound songs that make sense being here

Jesy Nelson/Nicki Minaj-Boyz

Nesa Barrett-I hope ur miserable until ur dead

Silk Sonic-Smokin out the window

Chloe-Have Mercy

Post Malone/The weeknd(One right now

Trevor Daniel-Alone

Oliver Tree-Life goes on

It’d be nice to see Overpass Graffiti, The Motto,  MAMMAMIA, or telepath get released because I like all of them. Also on an interesting note The weekend from 88rising and BIBI did get some radio adds this week, it doesn’t confirm that it’s a released single though like all the songs mentioned above.

Songs that need to debut to make Hitbound make sense.

Charli XCX-Good days

TWICE-The feels

Blxst/Ty Dolla $ign/Tyga-Chosen

Farruko-Papas

I still haven’t listened to any of these. There’s just better songs by better artists that I spend my time actually listening to.

Blurbs

After debuting last week both Angel baby and Better days didn’t do anything this week. That’s especially weird for Better days since it’s one to watch and on that note for some reason this song wasn’t on Hitbound this week like it’s supposed to if it’s one to watch.

Why did Edamame have to jump back up after being at the bottom last week.

Hurricane didn’t do anything either even though it has a lot of AirPlay.

Way 2 Sexy finally jumped out of the top 5. It’d be nice if this became Drakes first real hit on Hits 1.

Bad habits keeps on plummeting both in countdown ranks and in AirPlay.

Giveon keeps getting success here with For tonight which is awesome.

Why does Ghost keep on falling?

Need to know was played right before Life goes on which was this weekends countdown extra. I guess I got the curse of 2 bad really bad songs in a row. When Life goes on debuts by the way I’ll be promoting Need to know to Red, because of how annoying life goes on is.

I’m Beggin, Beggin youuuuuuuuu to make this a top 5 hit Hits 1 it’s been at the top of the AirPlay chart all week come on.

Who’s in your head dropped out of the top 10. Really Hits 1 I thought y’all loved the Jonas brothers.

A-O-K is now at #6 and it’s worth mentioning that they started playing the original version again, but they parlayed the remix on the countdown? While I question why that happened I’ll still take the remix over the original.

Fancy like is in the top 5 and I think I’m literally the only person here who probably doesn’t mind. I grew up listening to country music so that’s why I like this.

Cold heart fell to #4. Oh well for Elton John hitting #1 I guess.

Easy on me only rose 1 spot this week, how surprising.

Of course Hits 1 has to fuck over Industry baby.

Shivers is #1 again and while I don’t mind and while I love Ed Sheerans music right now I’d really rather have industry baby up there because I think we all know what’s really gonna dethrone this next week. That’s right Adele is coming, and I bet she’ll probably be #1 for the rest of the year.

As for the exits we lost Justified and Love again. Justified lasted longer than I thought it would, which is good but at the same time it was never really destined to become a hit. Love again was screwed out of #1 though, but I’m still happy that it hit high here. It will be missed very much.

#1 recommendation for Hits 1: Justin Beiber/Troyboi-Red eye

Leave y’all favorite picks in the comments and I’ll try to get to all of them once approved.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see y’all in the next one.
