The Kid Laroi/Justin Beiber(3): Week of September, 25th 2021

The Kid Laroi/Justin Beiber(3): Week of September, 25th 2021

Hey guys what’s up. I hope everyone has had an amazing week. This weeks countdown was very interesting, there were some definitely unexpected entries, and a decent amount of movement. Hitbound and the abyss have now gotten even more worse and complicated than they previously were though. Just a reminder if you came here from my Instagram music page I’ll be doing audio reviews of the Hitbound songs(and some abyss songs I guess) based off of next weeks episode of Hitbound. If your interested and haven’t yet followed me my username is treys_music_reviews, so if anyone wants to read my opinions of the songs but with the audio included go follow me on there and those will release the second week of October. Debuts

We’re kicking off with a Re-entry from Essence by Wizkid, Justin Beiber and Tems at #30 and I don’t think I talked about this when it was in the abyss so I’ll give my thoughts. I just don’t like this, first off it’s 4 minutes long which usually I wouldn’t mind, but the production here From Wizkid just isn’t good enough to hold this together for that long without getting Boring as hell. Wizkid himself doesn’t sound good on the parts where he does contribute vocals, and Neither Tems nor Beiber doesn’t sound too good either. Beiber sounds alright at best in his  verse, but it’s just not enough to make this sound great. I really don’t see the need of Hits 1 or any station having this.

Our first actual Debut comes from Country singer Kacy Musgraves, who’s getting ready to perform on the season opener of SNL next weekend. This weeks she brings us the first and lead single from her new album and the songs called Justified. I like the production here it’s nice and chill and more Pop-like. The lyrics are good and catchy to. Kacy sounds good here, but the only thing holding this back from being great is the fact that she has some vocal affect on her voice, and it makes her voice sound a bit weird, overall though not horrible. I wouldn’t mind if this stuck around.

Next we have Surfaces and Tai Verdes at #28 with Sheesh! This song comes straight out of the Sheesh? Meme and it’s pretty solid. The guys in surfaces sound a bit obnoxious in the chorus but do pretty well vocally in the verses. Tai Verdes really does a great job with his verse. He actually raps to which is pretty cool. Production wise this beat really hold up well here, and lyrically I love it, I feel as if I can relate because I live in Florida and all the lyrics are pretty catchy. Overall not bad.

Next we have The Jonas Brothers debuting with their new song titled Who’s in your head? this is pretty good if y’all remember from last week when I reviewed it for Hitbound. The guys have some great vocals here and Nick and Joe have some fantastic chemistry. The lyrics are very catchy to, they really get me in a good mood. Production wise very upbeat and delightful. Overall this is awesome.

Finally we have the song that tied for the second highest countdown debut of the year(along with imagine Dragons Follow You) the remix of Elton John and Dua Lipas new song cold heart. Now when I say remix I mean that it’s not really a remix as PNAU actually produced this. This is the original song just taken from Elton Johns other songs and mashed into one. The lyrics are awesome I really like how they incorporated Rocket mans chorus here, and the rest of the lyrics aren’t bad their a bit catchy not gonna lie. Elton sounds great here and so does Dua Lips and surprisingly they both fit in here.  PNAU,s dance beat is amazing here. I really like it. This is a fun song and should stick around given how high it debuted.

Best Countdown debut: Jonas Brothers-Who’s in your head( it was very close though)

Biggest Jump of the week: Walker Hayes-Fancy Like(+6). Wow I didn’t expect this to get into the top 10 here especially since it’s country, but I don’t mind that it is, although it is a bit overplayed.

Biggest Drop of the week: Maneskin-Beggin(-9) well this kinda sucks because I really grew into this song during its run here. I wish it could’ve stayed in the top 10 for a while longer but I guess not.Oh well.

Monsta X-one day

We got a lot of Hitbound debuts this week(Holy Shit). For starters love tonight Re-entered after leaving the countdown. This can go away any day now. It’s the lowest of the low EDM song I’ve ever heard just nothing about it is that good.

Alright so we start off this week with the return of Trevor Daniel. If you remember him it’s probably from his songs Falling and Past life with Selena Gomez last year. Well he’s back now with a new song called Alone. This isn’t that bad actually Trevor has great flow here, the lyrics are easily relatable and very catchy and the beat is awesome, but my only issue is that it sounds like Trevor has some affects or auto tune on his voice here. That’s what prevents it from being great, but it’s still a very solid song.

Next we have a big collab that I didn’t even expect to drop from Coldplay and BTS(here comes another manipulated hot 100 #1 debut) This actually isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Chris Martin sounds good. The production is good, and BTS is actually alright here, although they do sing in Korean in some parts of the songs so I can’t tell what the hell they’re saying, nor is Korean a catchy language. Still this is pretty solid though.

Great we have another new Doja Cat song on Hitbound. This one called Get into it (Yuh). The title is super cringy off the bat but the songs not the worst. The beat is really good here and the lyrics are decently catchy enough to get my attention. The problem is Doja herself, she just doesn’t sound good. Not too much else to say about this. Next.

Next we have some rapper named bbno$(How do you pronounce this guys name) and he brings us a song called Edaname with Rich Brian. This sounds like the type of song I’d usually like, because in general I like rap, but it’s not really too great. Both artists don’t sound good here, and I Just don’t like the lyrics. The production is very strange to. I’d rather this not Debut. Next.

And we have 2 horrible debuts to talk about in a row this next one coming from some alternative band called The anxiety with Tyler Cole and Willow(How surprising) it’s called Meet me at our spot. First off Willow sounds horrible here, and this really makes me wish Transparent soul should’ve debuted because she actually sounds good in that song, anyways she doesn’t sound good at all here and nor does Tyler Cole. I’m not really sure who The Anxiety is but I bet they produced or Co-produced this and if they did they didn’t do the worst job because it is nice and Chill in a sense, but at the same time it’s just so boring, and this is coming from someone who usually likes alternative or Rock music. Hopefully this won’t debut.

I never though I’d be saying this but Pitbull is making new music again for the first time in 2 years. His latest song debuts this week, and has vocals from Anthony Watts and production from some producer named DJWS or DJ White Shadow(love that name) anyways simply put I love this. Pitbul sounds amazing here and his flow is great. Anthony watts doesn’t sound bad in the Chorus, and the production from DJ White Shadow is awesome and upbeat. Hopefully this will be the party song of 2022.

Next we have a new song from Given called For tonight. I liked heartbreak anniversary, but it’s faded on me since it never Debuted the countdown and hasn’t been played a lot since it went into the Hits 1 abyss a few weeks ago. This song is fresh and new though and I like it. The production is nicer slightly faster than in Heartbreak Anniversary, and Giveon sounds pretty good here. The lyrics are nice to. Hopefully this will be his first solo countdown debut.

Last but not least we have another Tiesto song on Hitbound called Don’t be Shy. This one has vocals from Karol G. I loved the Business and I was pissed when it never debuted the countdown. It’s one of my favorite songs of the year. Don’t be shy is really good though to. Tiesto’s production isn’t bad it’s upbeat and fun and like The business it has a nice buildup. Karol G sounds great here to. I love her sexy Latin voice LMAO. The lyrics really stand out here though and it’s really catchy. This is a pretty fun song overall and I hope it debuts.

As for the Hitbound exits this week we have Drive you home, Another song about Tequilla(again), Woman, Steal my love, one of me, Shivers, girls want girls and Chasing stars. Drive you home was really good and I’m disappointed it never got a chance to debut. Another song about Tequilla was never destined to be a hit so I don’t care. I wish Woman would’ve stuck around instead of replacing it with Get into it(Yuh). Steal my love was good and should’ve gotten a chance. I knew One of Me wasn’t gonna last Long Because That’s  what I want is the next single off of Montero, I’m assuming Shivers is in the abyss(which is getting ridiculous at this point). Girls want girls is out because Way 2 sexy is now in the abyss so that makes sense, and Chasing stars I can live without so I don’t care at all that it’s gone.

Best Hitbound Debut: Pitbul/Anthony Watts/DJ White Shadow-I feel good

Blurbs

How’s Happier than ever still at #26 I heard it a lot this week?

Rumors is still not doing well.

You took a hard fall this week. At least it got what it deserved though, a really good run. I’m happy it hit #4 here.

Can we get need to know out of here please.

Both @ my worst and Everything sucks made jumps this week. Nice to see them having some success. Especially Vaultboy since he’s a 1 to watch which usually would be out by now.

Why is Memory Jumping, it’s so forgettable.

Traitor and Industry baby fell. How weird.

Arcade, Fancy like and You right entered the top 10. Ok I guess.

Leave before you love me is still here?

Stay is #1 again for the 3rd week in a row. I love it, although I can see love again taking over or maybe even take my breath or Saturday. If that does happen though I wouldn’t mind, at least Hits 1 is giving both Laroi and Beiber some success.

As for the exits this week. I’ve already talked about Love a tonight. Way 2 sexy deserved way much better. Hurricane left also, which isn’t too surprising, hopefully it’s in the abyss though. People watching was never destined to be a hit, but now it’s somehow a break out on AT40. It did pretty well here though for a minor song. Skate was really good and deserved a lot better, although now I realize that I like Leave the door open a lot better.

#1 recommendation for Hits 1: Olivia Rodrigo-Brutal

Make sure to leave your favorite and least favorite picks from the countdown and Hitbound in the comments and I’ll try to get to all of them.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see y’all in the next one.
