Lizzo(3): Week of November, 5th 2022

Hello everyone and what’s up? I am finally back and posting countdowns again. I was actually supposed to do my first post last weekend, but long story short there was some drama in the Hits 1 Discord, and it caused me to to feel like I was having another stroke even after I had the surgery a few weeks ago(not actually joking about this either) but the good part is that I was only having a panic attack because of it and stress from school(which is currently kicking my ass and has been since I had the first stroke) anyways because of everything the last week has been overly stressful for me and it got bad to the point of where I had to completely log off of some of my other social media’s and resist trying to go on them. I got through it though and even though I didn’t do a CrownNote chart last week, I am back and planning on doing one this week(spoiler we could see some Hitbound songs here potentially debut at #1 and #2 on that thing again) and it just feels so great that everything is now over with and that I can feel normal again, One announcement before we get into the countdown though. The Hitbound dropouts rankdown we have decided will be split into 3 parts this year. Part 1 spanning from November 2021-May, part 2 from June-November 2022, and then after those are done we plan on taking the top 25 songs of each rankdown and ranking all of them to make a cumulative list(hopefully). I know that might sound complicated right now, but it’ll all fall into place when we get started, and we plan on doing that soon, anyways other than that just note the only thing that’ll be different in this weeks post is that you may see some songs that I haven’t shared my opinions on yet, and I don’t have time to go over all the exits from when I was gone, so if you’d like to see those please go over to ZestPond, Bubby, Waffle or Hippos blogs, which are all listed in the sidebar. Anyways with all that shit out of the way let’s get into this countdown shall we!

We’re gonna start with the songs I missed while I was gone. I’ll go over them very briefly.

1. Enough has become one of my favorite new songs, Whoever this guy is he reminds me so much of Post Malone, The Kid Laroi and Juice Wrld, he’s got a great voice. The writing is also very catchy and relatable and the production evolves nicely. One of my current favorites at the moment.

2. Is All Time Low really that popular? I don’t think so, but Hits 1 decided to pick up their new song called Sleepwalking and it’s quite solid, but a bit forgettable. I really like the synthey production though and the singer sounds good.

3. I am not a fan of Taylor Swift at all today, but Anti-Hero is actually pretty good for a single. It gives major As It Was vibes and Taylor actually sounds very great on it.

4. I made it clear in my last countdown post that I don’t like Unholy. It’s weird both production and writing wise and they don’t even sound that great, so as to why it’s becoming a big hit I have no idea.

5. Snap re-entered on my birthday yay.

The 2 other obvious entrants I’ll go over when I get to blurbs and biggest jump(yeah that one’s gonna be an issue with me).

Debuts

So apparently this rap song called Billie Eilish( which has been here since I’ve been gone) comes out of the abyss this week and debuts despite having very little AirPlay, alright then. This is decent, but nothing special. First off I can name million more rappers who are more talented than this guy is. His voice is kinda annoying here honestly, and it’s very hard to tell what he’s saying sometimes because of that and his flow combined., so I guess writing wise it’s alright and a bit catchy, but I really can’t tell honestly. The production is nice though, and that’s what brings it up for me into the decent tier. Overall not horrible, but not something I’d call great either.

Our next debut is from Meghan Trainer and it’s the single off her new album called Made You Like. I first heard this on my local station the other night and thought it was weird, which sucks because I like Meghan Trainer a lot. This was a complete wtf moment for me though when I listened to this. Meghan doesn’t sound that great here, and the writing is completely weird and I would even go as far as to say it’s not too radio appropriate. The production is kinda cool sounding, but it’s just not as good as In her older songs like All About That Base or No! This song really disappointed me. Hopefully she does better the next time around. Let’s not make this one a hit please. Next.

Finally coming in at #25 we have Rihanna’s new single from the new Black Panther film called Lift Me Up. I loved Rhanna’s music as a kid, but her last batch of hits really weren’t that great honestly. Work was stupid and Love on the Brain was too slow and boring for her, although I did like forttyfiveSeconds and This is What You Came for. My expectations for this were really high actually, and so when I listened to it and heard it was a ballad I was kinda caught off guard, The production is really boring here, although I do like the acoustic quite a bit at the same time, it’s got a really nice melody to it, Rihanna gives some incredible vocal power here and she blends in really well with the production. The writing is also very good too, it’s very uplifting and encouraging, and it fits well with the songs vibe. Overall not too bad for Rihanna’s return to music.

Best Debut: Rihanna-Lift Me Up

Biggest jump of the week: Beyonce-Coff It(+8) I’m not really all that happy that this out of all songs is here right now. It’s very annoying and the writing is just weird as all hell. Not a song I want becoming a hit at all.

Biggest Drop of the week: Halsey-So Good & Charlie Puth/Jung Kook-Left and Right(-6) I’m happy to see So Good plummeting down the countdown because it became annoying a long long time ago. As for Left and Right I’m a bit shocked that it’s fallen all the way to #13 because it was #1 the last time I did a full review of the countdown. I’m happy it got a great run and hit #1 though and I can’t wait to see what Puth has planned next for his music(P.S I love Loser, such a good song)

Countdown Extra: Benson Boone-Before You

Last years #1 song: Ed Sheeran-Shivers(3/14 very annoying and excruciating weeks at #1)

My favorite song from last year: The Kid Laroi/Justin Beiber-Stay

My least favorite song from last year: Doja Cat-Need To Know

Hitbound

Havanna Winter-Hollywood Forever(Debut)

P!nk-Never Gonna Not Dance again(Debut)

Cheat Codes/Russell Dickerson-I Remember

Charli D’Amelio-If You Ask Me To

Tiesto/Tate McRae-10:35(Debut)

Avery Anna-Narcissist

Meghan Trainer-Made You Look

Avril Lavigne/Yungbild-I’m a Mess(Debut)

Regard/Drop-G-No Love For You(Debut)

Selena Gomez-Mu Mind & Me(Debut)

Benson Boone-Before You

Quinn XCII/Big Sean-Common

Sabrina Carpenter-Nonsense

Joji-Die for You(Debut)

Bailey Zimmerman-Rock and a Hard Place(Debut)

Becky Hill/David Guetta-Remember

A few things before we get into Hitbound

First off there were a lot of debuts and exits while I was away, but to save time in this post I’ll only be reviewing debuts from this week. Most of these songs will probably end up dropping out anyways, so I’ll let my opinions show in the Hitbound dropouts rankdown later.

Second, yes I know there’s 2 songs in purple, but that just had to happen.

Third, this weeks exits weren’t really that memorable or great and I honestly only listened to each of them once, so again my opinions will show in that rankdown.

Debuts

Kicking off Hitbound is Havanna Winter(who the hell is she) who’s replacing herself again for a third time with a song called Hollywood Forever. Her first song Rain Rain Go Away was pretty good and her other one that this replaced called Heaven to Me was not. This is In between, but it’s very solid. Havanna sounds good here and the alternative production is kinda cool. Lyrically it’s not too memorable though, but it was somewhat catchy and interesting, so I’ll give it that. Overall not bad. We all know it’ll never debut though.

Next we have the return of P!ink with Never Gonna Not Dance Again. I’ve always loved P!ink’s music and so I was looking forward to this. I loved the song Hits 1 picked up on from a few years ago called Hustle, it was very funny and catchy. This song isn’t as good as that one or really any of her older song, but it’s still pretty good. She sounds great vocally and I like the lyrics and production, but the style does seem slightly off for P!nk. I just wouldn’t expect her to make a song that’s so funky like this that doesn’t have a disco pop vibe to it, I like it, but sometimes it’s hard to get used to when artists change their sound like that. Overall not bad at all though. I wouldn’t mind it becoming a hit.

I am going to go out of order and go to Avril Lavigne next, who released a new song with Yungblud called I’m a Mess. This is very solid for an Avril song. She sounds great here and Yungblud helps her out a lot and adds a lot to the mix. The production starts out kinda slow, but gradually builds up and it’s at a really nice pace for the vibe of the song. The writing is also very nice. Overall it’s not as good as Love It When You Hate Me, but I wouldn’t mind this becoming a hit,

I’ve always been waiting for this moment and wondering when Selena Gomez would return to making solo music, and well after 2 and a half years she finally released something. Her new song is called My Mind & Me and it’s from a Netflix documentary about her and her mental health. I loved Selena’s music as a child up until Good for You came out and after that her music kinda sucked, but when Lose You to Love Me came out I fell in love with it. Now this song is no Lose You to Love Me, but it’s a very nice ballad. I like the use of the piano here and the melody is super nice, and the production overall just flows at a great pace. Selena does do a bit of talk singing in the verses, but that doesn’t really hinder her from sounding good because she sounds really great throughout this actually. The lyrics are also very relatable and catchy a bit. Overall not bad, I’d love to see this smash here.

Now onto more boring ballads and this next one from George Micheal Harris or Japanese name Joji is called Die For You. First off there’s a way better song called Die for You that’s in the abyss right now and second, why must we have more of this guy? I didn’t like Glimpse of Us, but this makes that song feel very memorable, even though this evolves a bit more. Joji does not sound that great here, and I hate the affects used on his vocals in the beginning because you can barely hear what he’s saying with the fading out. Why do that at the beginning dude? The production is still very boring although like I said it does evolve some, but not much, and the writing while very nice is not that memorable. Overall this is not something I asked for, nor do I want to become hits.

Next up we have a country singer named Bailey Zimmerman with his song Rock and a Hard Place and this is decent, but not that great. I’m not really liking this guys voice and the production is slow and doesn’t really evolve much, but the writing is kinda catchy and I like the story that it tells. Overall though I wouldn’t mind this leaving any day now.

And now ladies and gentlemen who’s ready to go to the club with me?

Alright so, I love both of these songs and I couldn’t decide which was better, so both of them get my purple highlight for the week, of course they’ll probably both end up dropping out and not making the countdown since their house songs, so it doesn’t really matter anyways. Next up we have a match made in Heaven as Tiesto collabs with Tate McRae on 10:35, and honestly the thing that would be better and crazier than this at this point is if Tate worked with The Chainsmokers, because as much as I love their music y’all know that I love Tate McRae, she had my #1 song of 2021 with our last Hitbound artist(Regard) and she’s shown me that she can has great vocal power on any type of production, but when it comes to EDM that’s when she shines the most. Tiesto is of course the godfather of EDM too, so this is just a big collab all in all. Tate sounds amazing here, although I think she does have either some miner effects on her voice in the chorus unless Tiesto sings with her in a down pitched voice. She sounds great overall though, and Tiesto did a fantastic job producing this. It’s got a dark vibe like all his recent songs have had, and it sounds a lot like both The Motto and The Business. The buildup is great, and it sounds like it’s very bassey and house like in the chorus. The writing is also very catchy and interesting, but also very relatable. Overall this is amazing, let’s hope it becomes The Motto of 2023.

Finally we have Regard(who I just mentioned) and someone named Drop-G with a song called No Love For You, and I was completely oblivious to the fact that this song was dropping yesterday, so it surprised me when it was on Hitbound, but it’s here and let’s hope it stays here, unlike Signals a year ago. I think I’ve stressed here enough that I really enjoy Regards style of house a lot, he mixes really great sounds togther and can make an interesting and upbeat sounding song and that really showed last year when he released my #1 song of 2021 with You, and 2 years ago on my #2 song of 2020 with Ride It. He also released Hallucination early in the year and I also like that one, and it’ll be on my top 40 of 2022, but it was also blocked from #1 on my chart by High. This new song may actually have a shot at hitting #1 though once I get the chart running again(which will be this week). This is amazing, Regard did a great job producing this, it’s upbeat and has a really nice buildup and mix and it sounds great. The down pitched vocals from Drop-G sound great also and the lyrics are very nice and repetitive and catchy. The down pitching just works with Regards style very well and it definitely shows here. Amazing song. I see a long run on my chart incoming, but I’d also like this to debut here and become a true radio hit.

Like I said the exits you’ll find out my opinions on during the rankdown.

The Abyss

The Weeknd-Die for You

Sia-Unstoppable

DJ Snake/Summer Walker/Ayenna-Power(Remember Who You Are)

Tate McRae-Uh Oh

Beach Weather-Sex, Drugs, etc

Omar Apollo-Evergreen(You Don’t deserve me at all)

Panic At The Disco!-Don’t Let the Light Go Out

Why any of these songs are still here I have no clue.

Wasted On You, Bad Decisions MANIAC, Bigger Than Me and Daylight have all been taken off the survey and left the abyss(also I did not include Pink Venom because it was off the survey when it left the countdown) The only one of these songs I really cared about was Bad Decisions. It would’ve been nice to see it make the countdown, but oh well, also Bigger Than Me should’ve re-entered with how much they love One Direction, although it was a forgettable song,

Blurbs

Calm Down apparently left and re-entered while I was gone and it peaked, but fell 5 spots from #23 to #28 this week. This is just showing that Hits 1 doesn’t really care about this song at all. I’m actually alright with his being here too, I Love Selena’s addition to this and it makes it more tolerable than it should be for an Afro-pop song.

Late night talking fell all the way to #29 last week, but jumped back up to #24 this week. This has to be the power of social media because this song shouldn’t be here and jumping anymore if it fell to the bottom last week. I still think it got a kinda unfair drop from #1 though and I still like it quite a bit, but it shouldn’t be jumping anymore.

Vegas also started to fall and has now fallen out of the top 20, which sucks cuz I still like this song quite a bit, even if it does burn me out sometimes. Oh well though that’s another failed hit for Doja Cat here. At least it made the top 10 though.

Until I found You jumped 4 spots. Didn’t this song peak at like #13 or somewhere around there? I don’t know because I keep forgetting it exists until I hear it,

Numb is also on the tank train, as it fell 5 spots to #20. This song had a great run here, so I don’t mind this happening. I do wish It had hit #1 though.

It’s nice to see Golden Hour doing something here. It’s not the best song in the great tier, but I think it deserves top 15 at least. It’d be nice if it did become an actual top 10 hit though.

Bad Habit has jumped 4 spots to #12, and I still love this song. I hope it can rise even more and get into the top 10 next week. It even looks like it’ll hit #1 on AT40. Nice job Hits 1.

I Ain’t Worried fell out of the top 5 and its replacement is Million Dollar Baby, which also re-entered on my birthday. I don’t mind seeing that switch happen, as both songs are great and I Ain’t Worried had been in the top 5 for quite a while. I’m hoping this means Ava Max can also get her first #1 at some point, although that’ll probably be ruined by Harry the clown.

I’m Good is now sitting at #3. I’m also sitting here thinking,” can these other 2 songs just fuck off and let this song hit #1.” I’d really like that to happen, but I know the chances are slim to none. This is one of my favorite songs though right now, I have it on repeat and stuck in my head daily and I’m really impressed with how well it’s doing here.

Music for a Sushi Restaurant is still being blocked, how amazing.

2 Be Loved is the current #1 now for the 3rd week, and I was not happy on my birthday when I woke up to this song hitting #1(of course I was still happy because it was my birthday) this song has gotten super overplayed and annoying every since it debuted the countdown, so I would really like it to go away very soon, but the good thing is they took it off the recent survey, so it’ll probably start falling next week,

As for the exits Eveegreen and Don’t Let the Light go out find themselves in the abyss. I don’t really care about Evergreen as it’s boring as fuck and as for Don’t Let the Light Go Out, it’s a good song, but I really wouldn’t mind it leaving either as I kinda forgot it existed. Wrapped Around Your Finger from Post Malone also re-entered and is now gone. LMAO I knew they wouldn’t be able to keep it around for too long.

#1 recommendation for Hits 1: Drake/21 Savage-Treacherous Twins

    https://forms.gle/Uj3HWUEupsjacipg9

Also, 2 Be Loved was not on the survey, so anything in the top 5 could hit #1, but please not Victoria's Secret, I'll take sushi over that.

Tiesto/Tate McRae(6): Week of April, 29th 2023

Wow, this community is deserted. Why did I leave all of sudden with no word
