Harry Styles(7): Week of June, 25th 2022

Hello everyone and what’s up? I’m sorry this post is a bit delayed, but this week was once again not that great of a week, so that’s why it was a day late. We did get a really good miracle out of this weeks countdown, so I’m happy about that at least, but we also have a horrible new one to watch and a bunch of really boring moves, and of course the same overrated #1 song that we’ve had for the last 7 weeks. Hitbound also turned very bad, and the abyss just keeps on getting bigger and bigger by the week. Before we get into it I just wanted to let y’all know 2 things though, first, when I looked at this countdown I realized that the number of weeks some of the older songs had were a bit off, so if y’all used my blog to get those weeks for the songs, I’m sorry it was a bit off, but now it’s fixed. Second if y’all are signed up for Summer Madness I revealed round 1 results a few days ago, and round 2 will be starting this week, so check out the results on the Summer Madness page. Now without further ado let’s get into the weirdest and whackiest countdown I have probably ever seen from Hits 1, starting with the exits.

Debuts

Ok, so it seems as if this whack ass countdown just keeps getting more and more weird every week. Remember back in February when we had what I thought would my worst and best songs of 2022 debut on the same week? well then if you t don’t then maybe it’s a good thing cuz now I think I can officially say that these 2 debuts might actually replace the other 2 songs I reviewed in February for worst and best songs of the year. Starting off with the worst song, and my oh my is it gonna be fun hearing this one on Hits 1 for the next 4 weeks. It’s our latest Hits 1 to watch Amelia Moore with her song called I feel everything. Oh my God, this is so bad. Amelia literally shrieks in the chorus of this song, and it sounds so painfully annoying that I cannot bear to listen to it, and she doesn’t even sound that great in the verses. The production is very weird and overly basic, the beginning sounds the worst though. I can’t even describe what it sounds like. The writing kinda sucks to, there’s some very very questionable lyrics in the second verse that I don’t think should’ve been included in the song. Yeah overall this song is just a mess, let’s move onto a much a much better song shall we, and oh yes we shall(third time I’ve said on my blog post)

Moving onto much better things than Amelia Moore now, next we have once again my favorite band of the year The Chainsmokers debuting with I Love U at #22. Um ok so just a spoiler there might be a rant here next week cuz this was literally removed from the survey yesterday(nice fucking move Hits 1)(sarcasm) so this just might be a one week thing, but thank god even if it is only for a week because I feel like this is just not getting the attention that it should be getting, I mean the whole So Far So Good album isn’t doing shit on streaming, and that’s kinda sad when 6 years ago these guys had 2 of the biggest hits in the world, and now they’re not absolute nobody’s , but as of right now in the music world they kinda are(thanks a lot Harry styles for releasing your album a week after this album was released) this song has had like 1 week in Apple Music’s top 100 pop songs, and has been performed 3 times live 2 of the 3 times being for IHeartRadio events, so you’d think general radio would jump on this shit already, but nope they haven’t yet, and it’s literally just Hits 1 and Pandora Now who have added it their stations. Really??????????????? Come on radio, y’all can do better than that. Their next single off the deluxe album drops this Friday, so I’m hoping that maybe it’ll at least get a radio deal, but seriously radio can do much better than undermining this amazing song. Alright so for the third time now, let me just explain why this is such a great song, and probably the best off the album. First, the production here is just so good. The drum line is really great sounding and it gets me every time I listen to this, that mixed with the other elements such as the orchestral stuff in the drop sounds amazing, and I absolutely love the piano melody used in the chorus. It just sounds too good. Drew Taggert sounds amazing here, and this is defiantly the best I’ve heard from him vocally. The lyrics here are really interesting to, it’s about how this person loves someone who’s left him simply because their in a long distance relationship, but person A still loves them back. It’s just very intriguing writing, and it just work out really well for the sound of the song. I think I’ve said enough. THANK YOU FOR THIS AMAZING DEBUT HITS 1.

Best Debut: The Chainsmokers-I Love U(I think the majority can all agree that this is way better than Amelia Moore)

Biggest jump of the week: Calvin Harris/Dua Lipa/Young thug-Potion(+5) I would really consider jumping 5 spots that big, but in the case of this song it helped out a lot. I’m really enjoying this song right now, and I would love to see it become a hit here, so I hope they keep the upward momentum going next week.

Biggest drop of the week: Em Beihold-Numb little bug(-7) Same as last week, no need to go over it again.

Debuts

Wow, this list is just amazing.

Starting off with the first of many horrible debuts, we have Dove Cameron and her new song called Breakfast. I didn’t like Boyfriend all that much when it first debuted, but I’ve come to like it quite a bit over the past few months, so I had some decent expectations for this, but man this song turned out way worse than Boyfriend and way worse than I expected it to. Dove Cameron sounds alright here I guess, but she doesn’t have that great of a voice here either, the production is super basic and it’s not all interesting like Boyfriend is. The writing is pretty bad to though. The lyrics are very cringy and weird, and it just gives me uncomfortable vibes. It’s definitely not radio appropriate writing either. Let’s move on from this, next.

Next we have some K-pop Girl group(oh boy) called aespa with their song called Life’s too short. I’m not really a huge fan of K-pop, but when it comes to female K-pop it always seems that I never wanna cross the line into that territory. It’s not that Korean females don’t have any talent or anything like that, but their voices are just so weird sounding, and that’s what this song suffers from. No one sounds good here at all. The production is decent, until the chorus hits, and then it just does not sound good. I feel like it’s a bit too trap infused, which doesn’t go well with anyone’s voice here. I’ll give it credit for some catchy writing, but other than that no thank you. Next

Hey guess what everyone we have an actual decent song here. Yay, and you may be surprised after reading that last review that this next one is a collab between Charlie Puth and Jung Kook of BTS. Like I said I don’t really like K-pop, the only exception actually being BTS(although Monsta X has had a few decent songs I guess) BTS clearly used to manipulate the charts though, so I’m still very skeptical whenever they come out with a new song. This is actually pretty good though. The production is very very basic, but the drum line just fits in perfectly here that it makes for a great listen honestly. Charlie Puth sounds great here, and so does Jung Kook so surprisingly. The writing here is really catchy to. The only thing I’m gonna criticize it on is that they could’ve written a bit different verse for Jung Kook, cuz it’s literally the exact same as Charlie’s. Overall not bad though at all.

Back to some really bad debuts, and next we have a song called Sheluvme(she love me) from none other than Tai Verdes. Hits 1 needs to stop trying to make him a thing, cuz clearly he sucks at making music. He sounds Meh here, and overall if I can even remember what the production sounds like it was also meh. Overall y’all get what saying, Meh Meh Meh. Next.

Next we have another artist that Hits 1 also needs to stop trying to make a thing out of, it’s Ashe with her new song Angry Woman. This is another horrible song from her. She talk sings here again(like in all of her songs) and when she sings this chorus, she sounds like she’s angry as all fuck, which doesn’t surprise me giving the title. I already have to deal with Amelia Moore, and I don’t need this song to give me anymore scream vibes. The production here while a bit more alternative and unique is just not good either, she just doesn’t sound good with this type of production. Another horrible song. Next.

Thank God we have an actual good debut next, and it’s from someone who’s music has actually sucked lately, so it’s super surprising, it’s Conan Gray with his new song called Disaster. In all honesty this is great, and way better that his last 2 songs Jigsaw and Memories. I’m really digging the production here, and the writing is really cool and kinda catchy. Conan doesn’t sound that bad here either. It’d be nice to see this debut.

Next we have another shitty debut from an artist who in my opinion I just do not get the appeal to anymore because the style of music she create now sucks, it’s Taylor Swift with her new song called Carolina. Apparently this is from a movie adaption of the book Meet The Crawdads, and well it sucks. The production here is barely even existent at all, I just didn’t hear anything when I first took a listen to this. Not even a melody or anything that would make it sound somewhat special. It also doesn’t help that the song is over 4 minutes long, in fact it’s just about 4 and a half minutes long. I just don’t understand how someone can like this boringness when I literally listen to a song from The Chainsmokers that clocks in at 4:33 every day(cyanide is the song I’m referencing by the way) I mean without a drum line or any real acoustic elements there’s nothing that constitutes thats special. Don’t get me wrong I think Taylor can definitely sing, but this just too boring for me to even pay attention to because of the non-existence in the production department. Next

Finally we get two good debuts. Next is precious Hits 1 to watch(who I now wish was still 1 to watch)Leah Kate with her song titled Twinkle Twinkle little bitch. I was very excited to hear this song when I found out it dropped, and it honestly didn’t disappoint at all. Leah Kate sounds awesome here, and the production is very nice and pop-pinkish, and it sounds very similar to 10 things I hate about you, hell this is just a fresh new version of it. The writing is funny to, I love the concept she took a making a children’s song melody into a punk song. That’s awesome. I hope this can be a hit here, but I have my doubts.

Finally we have a new song from Nessa Barrett called Die first, and this is pretty much just another great pop-punk song. Nessa sounds great here,, and I like the production. It’s more punk and less disco sounding unlike Dying on the inside, which is great. The writing is pretty good to. Overall I also have my doubts that this will become a hit, but you never know what could happen with Hits 1, so we’ll see.

We lost Only you, Grrrls and Falling Back. I didn’t really like any of these songs, and Falling back has a new replacement in the abyss that’s way better anyways, so yeah not much else to say about these.

Best Hitbound debut: Charlie Puth/Jung Kook-Left and right

The abyss

JVKE-This is what falling in love feels like

Harry Styles-Music for a sushi Restaurant

Doja Cat-Get into it(Yuh)

Lauren Spencer-Smith-Flowers

Kate Bush-Running up that hill

OneRepublic-I ain’t worried

Drake-Massive

BEYONCE-Break my soul

Stephen Sanchez-Until I found you

Maggie Rogers-Want Want

Harry Styles-Daylight

For the love of God Hits 1, y’all need to put some or all of these songs on Hitbound, there’s way too many songs here, this thing is getting ridiculous.

Want Want and Until I found you are now stuck here.

Alright so, I’m gonna start by reviewing the one song that I didn’t review last week, which is I ain’t worried by OneRepublic. This is the second single from the new TopGun movie and it’s pretty good. The whistling in the background really adds to the mix, and the melody is great. The production is a bit basic, but it works perfectly with the song and the whole vibe just fits it really well. The writing is nice and positive and Ryan Tedder doesn’t sound that bad here. I’d be alright if this debited and became a hit, I have my doubts that it will though.

Next we have the actual single off Drakes new album Honestly Nevermind Called Massive. I never thought I’d be into this song as much as I am, but In all honesty this is really good for a Drake song. The 90s house beat sounds a bit simple, but I can’t help but love it. The mixing I can tell was obviously done perfectly here, as everything just fits into its place and sounds good mixed together, and Drake sounds good here. The writing is way better than the writing in Falling back also, as he doesn’t repeat the same line over and over again in the middle of the song, and the lyrics are way better in this one than in that one. They’re more catchy and just more emotional and relatable. Overall, I wouldn’t mind this becoming a hit at all.

Next we have more 90s House influence in Beyoncé’s Break my soul, and this one is pretty good also. Beyonce sounds amazing here, the writing is really positive and cool, and the production is a really good sounding 90s house beat. Slightly better than Massive in my opinion. Let’s make this a hit.

Our last abyss song, which I am most certainly not looking forward to reviewing is Daylight by Harry Styles. Really Hits 1, we seriously had to put this on the survey and replace I Love U????!?!!?!??????????????????????????????? Yeah no I’m sorry but that shit doesn’t fly with me, especially when you have another Harry song already in the abyss and you have another that’s sitting on the countdown with barely any AirPlay that really should qualify it to be in the abyss, and not sitting in the top 10. Anyways enough of my ranting and on with this song. I haven’t listened to the whole Harry’s House album yet, but this is one of the worst off of it. The production is weird and basic, and Harry sounds horrible here. The writing is a bit weird and cringy also. I hope they realize that Music for a sushi restaurant and Late night talking are both better than this.

We lost Don’t forget my love, PGNL and To the moon. Don’t forget my love was really good and should’ve debuted the countdown. I wasn’t a huge fan of it at first, but it grow on me so much throughout its time here, and I wish it had been given a chance. Goodbye great song, you will never be forgotten. PGNL was cool, but I never saw it debuting anyways, so I’m cool with it being gone and To the moon sucked and already had 2 countdown runs anyways, so good riddance to it.

Blurbs

This was such a boring countdown, there were a few notable things that happened though.

Devil doesn’t bargain moved up 3 spots. I’m starting to like this song more, so that’s good. I was kinda expecting a bit bigger jump though.

First class rebounded, but not by much, and I’m still here asking why isn’t this song in the top 5 by now? It literally looks like it might be the biggest song on AT40 soon.

Me, myself & I jumped 3 spots. Can’t say I didn’t see it coming, the song still sucks though and the sooner we can get it out of here the better.

Sweetest Pie got another decent sized drop. Am I the only person here besides Waffle who still finds this song tolerable? I think I am.

Maybe your the problem jumped 4 spots and is on the edge of the top 10. Awesome, let’s make that happen next week.

Speaking of what’s blocking it, we have the laughing stock of the countdown aka Late night talking, which really shouldn’t be here, nor this high for that matter since it’s out of the top 50 of AirPlay completely. Nice job fucking around social media. Great song, but doesn’t make any sense whatsoever that it’s here and sitting in the top 10 when it barely has any spins.

When your gone is now in the top 5, and I approve very much of it being there. Can this hit #1 eventually, you’ll just have to hang on to find out.

Noooooooooooooooooooo why did About Damn time have to drop, it’s such a bop and I’m really enjoying it. Fuck this countdown.

Meanwhile I feel like I am getting bored with 2Step, although it’s a great song still. I’d rather not have this hit #1 though once our current #1 leaves that spot.

Sunroof is now at #2, and I’d really love to see this hit #1, come on Hits 1 don’t fuck this one up.

As it was is #1 again, and it’s been #1 for half of the run Shivers had, and the fact that it won’t move is kinda now starting to slightly piss me off that I downgraded it to decent. Come on Hits 1 don’t fuck this one up like you did with Shivers because in all honesty this is actually a good song, it’s just had it’s time at #1 though I think and the overplay is starting to kinda get to me now.

As for the the exits we lost Skin of my teeth and Skyline. Skin of my teeth really faded on me the past week, and it just joins the 1 week wonder clam of iPad and We don’t talk about Bruno, which are way better songs. I don’t even care that it’s gone it’s just a ripoff of Celebrity skin anyways, as for Skyline it was a great song and it deserved way more time here than it got. It may have been replaced by a slightly better song(I Love U) but it really didn’t deserve to leave too soon like it did. Goodbye great song you will be missed.

Recommendations for Hits 1: Lil Nas X/Youngboy Never Broke again-Late to Da party, Imagine dragons-Sharks, Sam Feldt/Saleme Illese-Hate me, & Lost Frequencies/James Arthur-Questions

Thanks for reading and I’ll see y’all in the next one.

  1. I have some questions.
    1. How do you see a Google form you made from your phone
    2. How do you make a page that isn't a post (like your summer madness thing)
This would help for my event

    1. 1. To see a Google form on your phone you have to have it in your Google Drive(they should auto save once you created them, but I’d double check to make sure it did first) I just downloaded the Google Drive app on my phone and went to recents and all my forms for Summer Madness are under there.

      2. If your on Blogger hit the 3 lines at the top and a drop down menu should come up. When it comes up hit pages, and the orange plus button at the bottom of the screen.

      Hopefully this helps.
