Harry Styles(6): Week of June, 18th 2022
Hello everyone, and what’s up? I am officially back from a nice weekend away, and while I didn’t listen to this weeks countdown, I thought it was pretty solid besides a few moves. Hitbound on the other hand kinda sucked. One thing before we get into the countdown though, I’m sorry I haven’t gotten to Summer Madness yet, I’ve been busy since I got back, so I haven’t really had time to do it, don’t worry though I’ll plan on revealing round 1 results later this week. With that all being said here are our exits for this week.

Debuts
Kicking off our debuts is Demi Lovato and their new song titled Skin of my teeth. This is really cool. The pop-punk production sounds amazing, and it fits the vibe of the song really well. Demi sounds amazing here, and I think she does a fantastic job fitting in vocally. The lyrics are not really too special or catchy, but they fit in well here with the style of the song, and it sounds like some pretty good writing. This also reminds me of Celebrity Skin by Doja Cat, as the melodies used sound exactly the same as in that song. Overall just a really solid pop-punk song from Demi. I wouldn’t mind it sticking around.
Next we have the return of Alec Benjamin, with what I believe is just an album track off his latest album. This ones called Devil doesn’t bargain, and it’s pretty nice and chill. The production is very slow and acoustic, but it has some upbeat elements also(unlike some really slow ballads that debuted Hitbound this week) and that’s what makes this sound very good. Alec sounds great here also, and he honestly doesn’t oversing, like he did in Speakers a bit. The writing is also very interesting to, nothing too special or catchy, but this is perfect for radio, I honestly wouldn’t mind it becoming a hit.
Next we have the second collab between Marshmello and Khalid called Numb, and it took me a bit to see how great this song really is, but alas I’m starting to warm up to this a lot more than I was last week when it debuted Hitbound. Marshmello did a great job producing this, it’s really basic, but sounds amazing, and I know this might be weird but when I listened to this song on full volume with my headphones in, it sounds like Marshmello put wave sounds in the background during the drop, and they honestly make it sound a lot better and way more summer-like than I thought it had before, Khalid, while not giving his best vocal performance here sounds great, and fits in really nicely. The lyrics and writing here are so fun and catchy also, that it’s hard to get it out of my head sometimes. Let’s make this smash please.
Our last actual debut comes from Halsey with her new song titled So Good. This is really great. Halsey has an amazing voice and she really shows it here, she gives a great vocal power, and she fits the production really well. The production while a bit basic is really nice and compliments the lyrics really well with the melodies used. Writing wise I really like how creative it is to, and it’s kinda a relatable and catchy tune about wanting your ex back. Like I said above let’s make this smash please.
Best countdown entrant: Calvin Harris/Dua Lipa/Young thug-Potion
Best countdown debut: Halsey-So Good
Biggest jump of the week: The Weeknd-Out of time(+10) Uh ok I guess. I’d really prefer this not to become a big hit though, as it’s super boring.
Biggest drop of the week: Em Beihold-Numb little bug(-10) as much as I like this song, I’m really starting to get a bit sick of it, so I’m completely fine with it dropping. It would’ve been cool to see this hit #1 though.

Debuts
Wow Hitbound turned to Shitbound while I was away cuz the only solid songs that aren’t Sunday bests are Want Want, Dress, and the new Black eyed peas song.
Kicking off with a new song from Drake who released a surprise album the other day. The album is half rap half house, so I thought it’d be pretty cool, this is the focus track off the album, and I guess it’s decent, but there’s honestly better. Drake sounds alright here, although he sounds really high-pitched in some parts and I just don’t like when he repeats the words falling back a bunch of times, it’s so nonsensical and stupid to do that, he says it too many damn times to even count. The production here is pretty good, but it has no drop, which sucks because I love drops in house songs. The bass is honestly super nice though, and the overall vibe is super chill. I really prefer Massive over this though. Next.
Really Hits 1, y’all had to pick up on Booty from Saucy Santana and Latto?????????????? This song is so bad and stupid. Saucy Santana doesn’t have a great voice here and he sounds stupid, and not even Latto can save it cuz she sounds bad here also, which really disappoints me after Big energy. The production is alright I guess, but not really that great either, particularly the chorus is the worst part though for it, and don’t even get me started on this writing. It’s not something that should be on radio. Overall not impressed by this, I hope it doesn’t become a hit.
Next is the actual only good debut this week from none other than The Black eyed peas, Shakira and David Guetta. The former 2 had a song last year called Girl like me that never made it to Hits 1, but was a pretty good song actually, and Guetta hasn’t had a hit on Hits 1 in a very long time, so it’s nice to see him show up on Hitbound for once. This songs called Don’t you worry and it’s honestly pretty good, but not as good as the peas past songs. Guetta did a great job producing this, but again it doesn’t have a drop like I love in house songs.the peas and Shakira all contribute really well here, even though Shakira does have a slightly annoying voice. She doesn’t bring it down or anything though. The writing is really catchy and positive to, I’m escpecially loving Will.I.am’s verse. Overall really nice and upbeat song, if this could smash that would be amazing.
Next we have a new Dixie song called A letter to me, and this is honestly the worst song we’ve gotten from her. This is really slow, and a snoozefest to sit through. The production is boring and Dixie just doesn’t deliver that well here, she sounds so bad that it distracts me from wanting to even listen to the lyrics. Overall we can get rid of this anytime.
Lastly we have Glimpse of us from Joji, who is apparently the guy who became known as Filthy Frank and Pink Guy on YouTube. I think his content was super funny over there, but this song of his is super lame. The production feels so empty and non-existent and Joji while trying his best doesn’t sound that great here. Once again it’s so bad that I can’t even pay attention to the writing. Thank you Hits 1, TikTok and popularity for giving us snoozefest #2 of the week.
I Feeseeeeeel everythiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing is officially the new Hits 1 to watch. Why?????????????????????????????????? Now I have to listen to a shrieking lady everyday when I listen to Hits 1, let’s hope this leaves very quickly as soon as it ends it’s one to watch reign.
We lost Best Lover, Wild, MEAN!, Don’t come back and Goodbye. Best lover was horrible, so I’m glad it’s gone. Wild was replaced by a worse song from Dixie, and was very forgettable, so I could really care less that it’s gone anyways. MEAN! sucked and was never gonna take off anyways, so I’m more than alright with it leaving. As for the last 2, I would’ve been cool if they debuted, especially Don’t come back, and I’ll miss them a lot.
