Ed Sheeran(5): Week of March, 19th 2022
Hello everyone what’s up. It’s been a great week, and a great break for me. We had another really solid countdown this week. Sorry I got a bit behind on my personal charts this week, I was just enjoying my time off from school with my friends and family. I just put my chart out from last week though, so you can find it at the next post down if you go out of this post. This weeks chart I’ll plan on posting tomorrow. I’ve also decided now instead of doing a 5000 pageviews special I’ll make it for 10000 since I’m already rapidly gaining In pageviews here. One more quick announcement the Hitbound dropouts page has been updated, so click on the sidebar on the home page, and it should be highlighted in Teal at the top of the bar. Anyways let’s get started. Here are the exits for this week.

Debuts
Sadie Jeans WYD now? re-entered the countdown at #29. Y’all already know I like this song quite a bit, so I don’t need to go over it again. I’m kinda surprised they’re bringing it back though, that’s all I gotta say.
Kicking off our debut list this week, we have Sweetest Pie by Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa debuting at #28. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh????????????????? This is in the top 10 in AirPlay, so how it didn’t debut higher I’m completely not sure, but ok. This is a pretty good song. It’s definitely not Dua Lipas best by any means, but it’s up there for Megan(although Savage is really good to). In short, I really like this. Dua Lipa sounds amazing throughout this, and she surprisingly fits in well. Megan sounds great to. I really like her flow, and the lyrics here. They’re fun and catchy and very memorable. The production here is good, although it’s not the best trap beat I’ve heard in my life. Overall not horrible though, really solid debut.
Woah! Next debuting all the way up at #20 we’ve got We don’t talk about Bruno. I’m really pleased this is here. I didn’t like it at first, but I’ve really grown into it over the last few weeks, I guess I’ll start first with the production. I really like how this production evolves, and honestly with the whole vibe that it has, I can definitely now see why radio is picking up on it. It just sounds like a radio song the deeper it gets into the song. Now I haven’t actually seen Encanto, but without referring to any character names, I’ll just say that pretty much everyone sounds great here, and I like how they kinda have their own little parts, but I also love the ending where they’re just singing in harmony together, although in that part it’s kinda hard to keep track of what everyone’s saying due to the pace of the song, thats not a huge issue though. This is cool, and I really hope it does well here.
Finally we have, wow another top 20 debut, and I am really excited about this one folks, it’s Dancing Feet by Kygo and DNCE. Ya know I really thought this would’ve taken over #1 this week on my personal chart, but nope it actually ended up dropping, that doesn’t mean it’s bad though. Kygo did a really amazing job on this production here, and I love the buildup. The beginning sounds amazing as well. The drop doesn’t sound bad, and I love the breakouts. Joe Jonas does an amazing job here vocally, as he sounds more amazing than he did in DNCE,s previous songs. The writing here is great to, it’s upbeat, bright and happy, but it’s also super catchy. Overall amazing debut. I could see this one doing well here.
Best debut: that’s really tough, but I’m gonna go with Sweetest Pie
Biggest jump of the week: Dove Cameron-Biyfriend, and 5 Seconds of Summer-Complete Mess(+10) I’m really happy that Complete Mess jumped, even if it is blocking High slightly. I know this is gonna hit #1 though given how much Hits 1 loves 5SOS, and it’s a pretty chill song, so I don’t mind. I don’t mind that Boyfriend jumped either, as I’ve been somewhat enjoying it lately, even though it’s far from great.
Biggest drop of the week: Benson Boone-Ghost town(-12) What could be any worse than finding out your favorite song isn’t in the top 10 yet? Having another one you love drop big. I honestly saw this coming really soon, but come on it would’ve been nice to see it go a bit further than it did. Oh well.

Debuts
First up on our debut list we have a song called Motherfucker. No I’m not actually lying it’s called Motherfucker just abbreviated as MF, and it’s by some singer named Bailey Bryan and it features one of my favorite artists 24Kgoldn. I’ve been really into Goldens music ever since Mood and CoCo came out, so I’m naturally excited to see whenever he has a new song out. If you’ve seen my chart lately, then you probably know I’m currently loving his song called Options with Internet Money, and I have his song called(wait let me write it correctly this time ) Dawn to Dusk with Lay in my On the verge section for the chart. After listening to this, I think it’s definitely better than that song, but it’s not as good as options, or any of his other songs as a matter of fact. This is still really good though. The writing is catchy and funny, and I like the production, both artists fit in well here. My only issue is that Bailey Bryan has kinda a boring voice, but this is catchy enough to where I don’t really care that much. Do I see debuting, no, Should it stay here, yes. Great debut.
Alright, so this next ones been heating up lately on pop radio it’s called Don’t forget my love by Diplo and Miguel. Wow I haven’t heard the name Diplo since 2019 when he had his song called Lonely with The Jonas Brothers(I’m not even sure how I remember that song exists, but somehow I do) anyways y’all know I like a lot of EDM, so I had high expectations for this, it didn’t turn out the best, but it wasn’t too bad actually, I see this moving more towards blue than red, which is good. I really like the production from Diplo here, it has a nice vibe to it, and it sounds very House-like, which is a style of music I love. My issue here is the vocalist. Miguel has never had a song on Hits 1, so this one is his first, I’ve heard some of his other songs before, and he’s an alright vocalist, but he just doesn’t fit the vibe of this song too well. He doesn’t sound the best with the House-like production. He doesn’t sound horrible though. I really would’ve liked if someone else sang this song though, I was thinking someone more along the lines of Giveon or Kwabs, or if Diplo just down-pitched his vocals and sang it himself, because this seems like the type of song where a down-pitched vocalist would’ve fit in a bit better, but that doesn’t make me hate this song though. I also don’t really like how Diplo made Miguel’s vocals fade out slightly in the second chorus. that just seemed a bit weird to me. Writing wise I like this, but the chorus gets a bit too repetitive. Overall not good, but definitely far from bad.
Next we have a new song from GAYLE’s new EP called Luv Starved, and this is cool, it’s definitely not like abcdefu or ur just horny, but it isn’t bad actually. I like the writing here, and GAYLE sounds really good. The production fits the vibe also and sounds great. The only thing I don’t like is the ending because she’s singing kinda without any production, so it sounds like a voice over, but it’s nothing too bad. Great debut, although abcdefu is better.
Let’s go, I might not be liking Enemy at the moment, but I’m definitely liking this next debut from Imagine dragons called Bones. This is way better than Enemy, the production is really good, and it fits in perfectly for an Imagine dragons song. Dan Reynolds sounds great, and the writing is really good and catchy. My only criticism with this, why the down pitched vocals in the verses? That’s a bit weird, it doesn’t make it horrible, but Dans natural voice sounds better here than those types of vocals, and they don’t fit in with an alternative song. This isn’t a house song Imagine dragons, besides that great debut.
Next we have Tom Grennan with Remind Me. I remember he had a few songs last year, but they were never really big hits. Uh they were better than this though. This song kinda confuses me a bit. Tom Grennan sounds pretty good here, and I’m really digging the production, but the writing is super confusing, it starts off great in the verses, but gets way more confusing when we get to the chorus. I’m not really understanding the story here, and the chorus kinda makes no sense to me. Overall not bad, but certainly not what I’d call good either.
Lastly, we have an artist who I’ve been eyeing a bit lately named Leah Kate. This is her song called FU anthem. Personally I like her song Dear Danny a bit better than this, but this is pretty good. She’s an artist who sounds like GAYLE, but she looks like Olivia Rodrigo, and she has a great voice. She sounds great here, and I really like the production and buildup. Lyrically this is really good and entertaining to. Overall not bad, I’d love to see them make this a hit.
As for the exits, we lost Dying on the inside, Room for 2, PS5, and How long. I was actually starting to kinda like Dying on the inside a bit more, so it sucks to see it go so fast. It also sucks to see Room for 2 leave also cuz I love that one. PS5 and how long I can live without though, PS5 wasn’t really gonna debut or get huge, and How long sucked, plus we already have shitty Euphoria music to deal with anyways with I’m tired.

Wow that’s not a big list. They really could’ve just taken 2 of the Hitbound debuts/Sunday bests out and replaced them with all 3 of these songs. Chosen I hear is officially back, which is great, but my concern is how well is it gonna do here, cuz this song is months old at this point, and it’ll probably start to come down the charts real soon. I’m glad it’s back though. I’m a bit confused on what’s exactly happening with iPad to, my guess is that it’ll sit here and maybe debut the countdown next week, but I’m not exactly sure since this isn’t supposed to be a big radio hit(although it clearly should be) I definitely don’t mind it being here though, and hey hopefully they play it next week, and if they don’t then at least High is still here.
We also lost Record player this week. That really really really sucks. I was totally loving hearing it earlier in the week, and it had a very small run on my chart even, it really sucks that it won’t be debuting, but oh well, I guess that was a Hitbound Re-entry that failed.

Why is Peru holding onto #30 again? This should be jumping, Come on do we really have to do this to a song right as I start liking it. Let’s get this moving.
I’m really started to hate I hate U. I just do not like the vibe or message that this song gives at all. Hopefully it’ll be out of here soon though.
Why is Closer continuing to fall. This shouldn’t be happening to this song, I thought this would be a big hit here, I guess not though.
Bam Bam is only up a spot? Really? Oh well, it’ll jump big next week probably. I’m really starting to like this one more and more though with every listen.
How’s That’s what I want still here, and is it dead on AirPlay, cuz I once again did not hear this at all this week.
Woman fell again. Why though, this one should definitely be in the top 10 by now.
Are you kidding me Big Energy fell. This countdown officially makes no sense whatsoever. lol.
How’s Oh my God still here, this is dead everywhere else.
Still not making High a top 10 hit are we Hits 1.
Speaking of the reason why High is not in the top 10 right now it’s because of this damn song, One right now. Oh my God please go away. This is getting super annoying to listen to, why can’t it just let either High, She’s all I wanna be or Big energy into the top 10. I’ll take any of those over this any day.
abcdefu dropped again, and it’s the biggest song in America right now. Hopefully it doesn’t fall too fast, cuz I’m still liking this one quite a bit.
Love it when you hate me jumped back up to #7 alright that is awesome. Now only if they’d play it more when I tune in, it’d be a lot better.
When I’m gone is down to #6. Not gonna lie, I saw this coming when it started dropping in AirPlay this week. That kinda sucks, but oh well. At least it got a week in the top 5.
Numb little Bug is now in the top 5. Let’s goooooooooooooooo. I’ve been really enjoying this one lately. Such a good song with great writing to get through all the stress in life.
Overpass Graffiti held onto #1 again for the 5th week in a row. I don’t mind, but judging by what Spyder said when he introduced this song today, I just really hope that it doesn’t break Shivers record for #1. Anything but that would be great.
We lost Attention, I am woman, For tonight and Message in a bottle. Attention wasn’t really gonna do anything here, although I did hear it quite a bit this week when I tuned in, but I don’t really mind that it’s gone, as it was a bit forgettable and not the best thing they’ve picked up on. I am Woman sucked, so I’m really relieved that Emmy Meli and her scratchy ass voice are gone, cuz I was getting sick of it. For tonight leaving kinda shocked me cuz I heard it a lot this week, but at the same time it was old, so I don’t completely mind, and message in a bottle was pretty much bound to leave at some point, although it was a really great song and it will be missed.
#1 recommendations for Hits 1: Regard/Years & Years-Hallucination, Internet Money/24Kgoldn-Options, Clean Bandit/A7S-Everything but you, Big time rush-Call it like I see it and Dreamr/Ruff/Channel Yates-Summer of ‘16
Thank y’all for reading and I’ll see y’all in the next one.
