The Kid Laroi/Justin Beiber(4): Week of October, 2nd 2021
What’s up everyone. I hope y’all had a great week. My week was really tiring with schoolwork, so I’m happy to be relaxing right now and writing out this post. The countdown was really good this week, probably the best countdown this year not gonna lie. Just a reminder if you came here from my IG I’ll be doing audio reviews for Hitbound this week. They will release Thursday night October 7th on my story, so every single song on this weeks Hitbound list your gonna see a review for except for Reckless and I hope ur miserable until ur dead, because I reviewed those last month right before I started this blog. I will also be including the two songs that left Hitbound and went to the abyss this week in those reviews so make sure to check out that list below to track what songs will be on there, and if you haven’t followed me yet my username is treys_music_reviews, so go follow me if you want to. I am working on finishing up a 30 day song challenge on there this week before the reviews. Anyways let’s get into it. here’s our exits for this week.

Debuts
Way 2 sexy Re-entered and basically replaced Essence. Yay!
People watching also Re-entered. This makes sense because it might actually debut AT40 mow and since it’s been going way up in AirPlay all week.
Lil Nas X brings us our first debut with That’s what I want. This has grown on me a lot more the past 2 weeks it’s been out. Nas has some pretty good vocals here and the production is very minimalistic I feel but it really does a great job at capturing the vibe of the song. I especially love the use of the guitar in the beginning. The lyrics are fun and catchy here to. Overall I love this. Awesome song.
Next we have the 6th single from Justin Beibers latest album Justice titled Ghost. This has really grown on me since it debuted Hitbound and went into the abyss. Justin sounds really good here. I keep saying that with every song he gets better with his vocals and I think that’s very true. The production is very minimalistic but upbeat and I absolutely love the use of the guitar in the chorus. Lyrically this song is awesome though, the lyrics are pretty catchy, and they’re actually very meaningful. I feel like Justice has had more songs with meaningful lyrics than any of his other albums. Overall Awesome song and a nice high debut.
And lastly tyeing for the highest debut this year we have Ed Sheeran with Shivers. This song is amazing. The production has a really nice Fall vibe to it, and I like how it uses both acoustic instrumental and upbeat modern. It blends perfectly here. Ed sounds amazing vocally and the lyrics are insanely catchy. I hope Hits 1 puts this on repeat which they probably will.
Biggest Junp of the week: Shawn Mendes/Tainy-Summer of love (+11) I’m so happy this is finally jumping big here. It’s so good.
Biggest drop of the week: Marshmello/Jonas Brothers-Leave before you love me This is finally starting to drop more. Which is good because it’s been here for a long time. I’m so happy this did well here though.

Debuts
Suaco was announced as our next 1 to watch although it won’t be official until next week.
So our first debut comes from some guy named Ckay with his song called Love nwantiti(ah ah ah) and right off the bat when I saw the title of this song I knew I was gonna hate it. This genre of music just doesn’t go with my taste. I’ve never liked Afro-pop, nor do I find it appealing. This doesn’t usually get onto the radio either, so I’m confused as to why this is here(although look at what Essence is doing on radio). The beat here is decent and upbeat but it’s nothing too special and the guys voice just doesn’t sound good also it’s hard to tell what he’s saying with his accent. I feel as if his accent is too heavy here, and overall I just lost interest in this when I heard it, so I’d rather have this not be debut. Next.
Up next we have another song called Hurricane on Hits 1. This one by EDM trio Cheat codes and EDM duo Grey. It features vocals from Tyson Ritten who’s the lead singer of All-American rejects, and I’ve always loved their music since I was a kid. They had a song a few years back on the countdown called Sweat and it was a pretty good alternative song. Cheat Codes also had a Hitbound dropout a few months ago called Lean on me with singer Tinashe. This song doesn’t quite live up to that song for me but that’s alright. I really like the more Trap like beat here and Tyson Ritten sounds good. Lyrically it’s really good to. The only problem is a can see this fading on me quickly because it is a kinda short song and it does get a bit boring to listen to. Nonetheless good song though.
Finally we have the 2bd song from British Pop singer Mimi Webb. She had a Hitbound dropout earlier this year called Good Without that was pretty good, but this song is even better. She sounds amazing here, and the production is still very upbeat although it’s a bit slow. The buildup is great to. I also like the lyrics. Overall not bad.
Just to confirm THE ANXIETY is a band consisting of Tyler Cole and Willow, similar to how Silk Sonic has Bruno Mars and Anderson Paac, so I will just be referring to them as their band name from now on.
For the Hitbound exits this week we had Love tonight and I feel good going into the abyss. I’m happy that I feel good is still getting a shot and I think it might debut next weeks countdown. As for Love tonight we don’t need it., it’s pointless shit that we don’t need jacking up space in the station.
Best Hitbound debut: Mimi Webb-24/5

Justified is growing on me a bit. I hope Kaceys SNL performance tonight can hopefully boost its voting numbers a bit next week given that a lot of people watch SNL.
When I listened to the countdown this morning Hits 1 had 2 fuck ups. One of them being that they cut off part of That’s what I want and made Who’s in your head flow into it. The other being that when they did the countdown rewind from last years countdown they played the wrong Falling. They said it was Harry’s Falling but played Fallin(adrenaline) from Why don’t we. Nice way to air the countdown Hits 1 with a few errors.
Sheesh! only jumped 2 spots even though it was in the top 5 on AirPlay pretty much throughout the week. That’s hits 1 for ya where AirPlay and votes just don’t match.
Need to know fell. Yay.
I guess I’m in love jumped this week. It’s nice to see Clinton Kane have some success.
Arcade and Leave before you love me had some decent sized drops. I’m happy that they got some success here but they’re getting a bit annoying and old especially the latter.
Traitor fell even though it got a boost in AirPlay again why?
Cold heart got a massive jump this week. Could this be Eltons first #1 on here.
Bad habits is once again plummeting in AirPlay why’s it still at #2
Stay is #1 again for the 4th week in a row. However as much as I love this song I like Shivers better so I had to downgrade it to great. Impressive run though at the top spot escpecially when you have Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa at #2 and #3.
As for our exits this week. Essence never deserved to here as it’s just not good. Rumors deserved a lot better for how good it was. Don’t go yet could’ve stayed for longer as I really liked it. Memory was very forgettable so I don’t care that it’s gone, and last but most certainly not least we have You which was an awesome song. It was probably easily my favorite song of the year actually, and I’m grateful it got a long run here nonetheless made it into the top 5. I’ll say for Regard not being a really well known producer he created a big hit, same with Tate McRae of course she had a head start with You broke me first though so it really doesn’t surprise me. The song will be missed.
#1 recommendation for Hits 1: Olivia Rodrigo-Brutal.
