Harry Styles(3): Week of May,28th 2022

 

Hello everybody, and what’s up? Happy Memorial Day weekend, and happy unofficial start to the Summer. With the start of Summer comes the start of Summer Madness right here on my blog. First off I’m very excited to announce that last Friday this blog hit 10,000 pageviews. I’m so happy to have grown this blog with all my viewers and followers over the past year, and I thank you if you read my reviews every week. I know Beluga would be very happy that I just achieved this accomplishment and once again I gotta thank him because if it wasn’t for him then I wouldn’t have been inspired to start this blog. My 10,000 pageviews special will be coming soon and trust me y’all aren’t gonna wanna miss it. More to come soon. Anyways my last announcement is that I have decided to unfortunately discontinue posting my weekly personal charts here in a blog post. I just haven’t had the motivation or energy lately to do those types of posts. I know a lot of people really like seeing them though, and most of them have now joined the Hits 1 Discord where we all have a channel dedicated to our charts, and that’s where I post them every Friday, so If y’all have joined then y’all can just see them when I post them there. If you haven’t joined yet and still want to view them though, I’m thinking about creating a page on this blog dedicated to my chart, and I’ll just post the link on that page every week. Debuts 

I go into this countdown thinking we’ll get 2 great debuts this week, but nope, all we got was a Re-entry from Jnr Choi and Sam Tompkins song To the moon. Really Hits 1, as much as this makes sense and this song is gaining a quite good amount of traction outside of Hits 1, the song itself is very unappealing and weird. Sometimes I wish they’d just take things seriously with I Love U and had that debut instead. I would’ve even preferred anything Harry Styles over this shit. Come on do a bit better next time Hits 1. 

Biggest jump of the week: Lizzo-About Damn Time(+7)  Let’s keep this up Hits 1. I’m very impressed with both how good this song is, and how good its doing here. This has really grown on me throughout it’s short run so far, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite songs from her. I hope this can get a great amount of time in the top 5. 

Biggest drop of the week: Imagine dragons/JID-Enemy(-14) I’ve never cared for this song, and it spent way too long at #1 anyways, so I don’t care at all that it got a huge drop. I wouldn’t even be surprised if this is its last week here.

Debuts 

Dixie D’Amelio dropped a new song)that probably won’t make the countdown yet again) this ones called Wild, and it’s decent, but it’s very forgettable. Dixie sounds great in this song, and it’s probably her best vocal performance I’ve heard,  but the production and sound are completely forgettable, Yeah I’m gonna need some more listens to this one. At least she sounds good though. 

Next we have a collab that dropped last week from 24KGoldn and Mabel called Overthinking, and man I really like this one. Mabel sounds great here, and I really like Goldens contribution also, he sounds great, and his verse is catchy. The chorus is very well written, and so is the whole song In general. The production is a bit basic, but it fits both vocalists well. Overall great song and I’m hoping it can become a hit here. 

Next we have the return of Calvin Harris. I’ve been a huge fan of his music since he released Summer back in 2014, and ever since then I’ve know nothing but big Sunmertime bangers from him.. he collabed with Dua Lipa once a few years ago on a song called One Kiss, and now he’s back with her again on the lead single to his album Funk Wav Bounces Vol 2 called Potion. I really liked One Kiss, and this is nowhere near as good as that song ever was, but when I look back to Funk Wav Bounces Vol1, there’s one song that comes to mind when I listen to this, and that is Feels, his collab with Pharrell, Katy Perry and Big Sean. The production here reminds me so much of the production on that song, it’s well mixed, and it’s funky and disco-ish, but it also has some R&B feels to it also, but mostly that’s cuz Dua Lipa went for a more R&B vibe here with her vocals. She sounds great and honestly so sexy here, and that really elevates this for me. As for Young Thug uh………….. well. I kinda can’t believe he’s here given the fact that he’s having some really bad legal troubles right now, but there’s absolutely no way Hits 1 could’ve edited him out because he takes up more of the song than you think he would. He has a verse and a bridge, and he honestly adds a lot to this mix. He sounds great, and I love his flow..  Lyrically it’s really really sexy, and spicy I might add, but it sounds great and it fits the vibe really well. Honestly I could see this smashing here. Hopefully that happens. 

Tate McRae released her debut album yesterday called I used to think I could fly, and now we have a new song off of it called Don’t come back. Tate McRae can pretty much sing over any type of beat that I’ve seen and this song goes for a different vibe that you’d think she’d do, and it’s a trap vibe, and she sounds great over trap I think. The trap sounds well produced and I like the use of the acoustic guitar here, it sounds well mixed in. Tate sounds awesome, and lyrically while I didn’t pay too much attention to it, it sounds really good. Overall let’s see if we can make this another hit for Tate. 

Next is some TikToker named Madeline the person, and her song is called Mean. This is very weird. She doesn’t sound good here at all, and I don’t really like her voice. She sounds like she has weird affects on her it. The production is basic, and it doesn’t really evolve well. Lyrically this writing is also not good. Let’s not make this a thing please. 

Lastly we have another collab from Blackbear and Macbine Gun Kelly called gfy or Go Fuck Yourself, and this is great. It’s better than Make Up Sex, but not as good as My ex’s best friend. Blackbear sounds great here, and I like how he sings in the more alternative sounding part than the trap part, and how Kelly sings in the trap part. They both sound great here, but Kelly sounds slightly better. I really like the production to, my only problem is that they could’ve edited it a bit more because the transitions sound a bit weird, especially the first one in Blackbears verse. The writing here is also pretty good, it’s not as catchy as I thought it would be, but it fits perfectly with the style of the song. Overall great debut. 

As for the the Hitbound exits we lost Dope, What would you do, Dua Lipa and Hope your not happy. What would you do might be in the abyss since it got played yesterday, but as for right now I’m not gonna add it to that list because it wasn’t on the most recent survey I did. I hope it returns though because I’m really liking it right now. It probably won’t though. Dope really didn’t get a chance at all, and I also hope it Re-enters. If it doesn’t though it will be missed. Dua Lipa is also gone, and that sucks to because it’s really starting to grow on me, oh well though, I guess we can’t make it a hit here can we, and as for Hope you’re not happy I was on the cusp of putting it in red, and it didn’t seem like a very good nor memorable song anyways, so I don’t care that it’s gone.

Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. The abyss is the one place I didn’t want I Love U going to, and for very good reasons. If you read my blog regularly you probably at this point have realized that almost no abyss songs end up debuting, and that’s an issue with every song on this list. Of course now that I Love U is my favorite song, I want it to debut so badly, we don’t need this song to be screwed over like Remind me, I can’t help but feel, Handsomer etc. some of those I previously mentioned I didn’t really like, but this one I do, so Hits 1 better make it a thing or there’s gonna be a big fat fucking rant here. 

We lost This Love and Boyfriends this week. I didn’t really see anything special about either one of them, nor did I think they were ever gonna debut anyways, so I don’t care too much about them. 

Blurbs 

This was the most boring week I’ve seen all year for the countdown. 

First off, I think I’m gonna address my opinion change on Me, Myself & I. The last 2 weeks I’ve listened to Hits 1 they’ve played this way too many times, and they’re rotation with it completely sucks. As an example, I’ll be working out and doing cardio and this song will come on, then 30-40 minutes later I’ll be off weight-lifting and it’ll come on again. This happens multiple times a week with this one, and it’s really starting to get to me. Not to mention that the song isn’t even that great to begin with. It’s just a basic boy band song I hear all the time. There’s nothing really creative about it. I saw this getting really annoying, but not as quick as it did, and that sucks when the song is only 2 weeks old. 

Maybe you’re the problem moved 4 spots this week. That’s awesome, let’s keep that upward momentum going and hopefully we can get Ava another top 5 hit here. Maybe even a #1. 

Why do I feel as if Complete mess is having the same run as High did, but the only exception being that it hit the top 5? I think this should be gone next week right? I mean we all know it’s gonna be replaced by Me, Myself & I anyways. Oh boy! Can’t wait for that to hit the top 5. 

Leah Kate also moved up 4 spots with the Hits 1 to watch song 10 things I hate about you, and I’m not gonna lie as much as I like this song it’s the first one to watch in a long time that’s becoming a bit annoying to hear. They’re playing it way too much. 

It would’ve been nice to see Boyfruend hit #1 here, but I guess that won’t happen now. 

Numb little bug is back in the top 3. I’m actually hoping this one can leave sometime soon to because I’m starting to get a bit sick of hearing it. 

Of course Sweetest Pie was bound to be blocked out of the #1 spot again. 

As it was, or as our community now likes to call it Ass it was, held onto #1 for the 3rd week In a row, and while I still really like this, I feel as if it’s gonna get slightly more annoying next week. We’ll see just how long I can last with this being #1 until it gets super annoying. Congratulations to the most overrated song in America right now. 

We only lost House on fire this week. I really would’ve liked this to stay longer since a bad and unappealing song took its place, but oh well. It was fun while it lasted here though. Hell I heard it maybe 3 times outside the countdown the whole time it was here, that tells you how bad Hits 1s rotation is. It will be missed, and it was a great song. I’m ashamed To the moon had to take its place.
