Charlie Puth/Jung Kook(2): Week of October, 1st 2022

Hello everyone and what’s up? Welcome back to an actual full countdown review. I’m excited to say that we’ve entered the month of October, and that’s really exciting for me cuz my birthday is in a few weeks, and I’ll finally be 21, of course I have to deal with the fact that I have to have heart surgery at the end of the month also, but that’s not getting to me at all mentally. Fall is in the air, the leaves are starting to come out, I’m starting to get a craving for pumpkin pie, and it’s finally Halloween season, so I’m pretty excited. As far as music goes, I kinda start to wind down at this time of the year, and I think it’s safe to say that anything that debuts my chart at this point will be carried over into next year, so at this point I just have to finalize my top 40 year end list, but I’ll still be making new charts every week, it’s just that new songs won’t be considered for this years top 40 list(even if they hit #1) just because they’ll likely carry over into 2023, but that won’t be out for a while. This week was pretty average overall, nothing too special. The songs you expect to do well did well, and the songs you expect to do crappy did crappy. I’m really excited about some of the new Hitbound debuts, and the countdown debut. Anyways, no announcements today, let’s just get into it with our lone exit.

Debuts

We only got 1 debut this week, and we all kinda expected the exit and the debut honestly, so I mean it’s not too surprising to see Lil Nas X come STAR WALKIN into the countdown. I’ve been really loving this song over the past week, and I’ve been using it as a empowerment anthem after having what happened happen to me almost 2 weeks ago. The writing here is just amazing and so fun and catchy. Nas sounds really amazing, and I personally think this may be the best he’s ever sounded in any of his songs. The production is kinda cool to, it’s trap, but it has this EDM feel to it that makes it sound like this slick laid back song that’s perfect for whatever mood your in. I personally love chilling to this, and also working out to it, so yeah really great song. Can it hit #1 on my personal chart(or here for that matter) we’ll just have to hang on to find out.

Biggest jump of the week: Ava Max-Million Dollar Baby(+12) Despite not really being big elsewhere, this has managed to do pretty well here since it’s debut, and I’m very impressed by that. It looks like this song is gonna become a hit here, now if it could only happen elsewhere that would be great. Let’s go for top 10 next week.

Biggest drop of the week: Nicki Minaj-Super freaky girl(-7) Great to see this disgusting shit get a big drop. Now please leave and never come back for a long time Nicki, I don’t like her voice, I never have like her voice, and never will like her voice or this song. If they get this out of here, then maybe I’ll listen more again during the day, and this is a good sign of that maybe happening.

Countdown extra: 5 Seconds of Summer-Best Friends

Last years #1 and my favorite song from last year: The Kid Laroi/Justin Beiber-Stay(4/6 weeks at #1)

My least favorite song from last year: Doja Cat-Ned to know

Hitbound

Omar Apollo-Evergreen(you didn’t deserve me at all)

Shawn Mendes-Heartbeat(Debut)

Tai Verdes-Two Sugars

Tate McRae-Uh Oh(Debut)

24KGoldn-Mistakes(Debut)

Havana Winter-Heaven to Me

Ed Sheeran-Celestial(Debut)

Leah Kate-Monster(Debut)

Quinn XCII/Big Sean-Common

5 Seconds of Summer-Best Friends

Aiden Bissett-Tripping Over Air

Kelsea Ballerinni-Heartfirst

Mike Posner-I’m nor dead yet

Cheat Codes/Russell Dickerson-I Remember

DJ Khalad/Drake/Lil Baby-Staying Alive

Beach Weather-Sex, Drugs, etc

Debuts

Well, I thought I may have found my next big #1 song on the chart last week, but turns out maybe I found it this week, as Shawn Mendes released a brand new song, and if you’re new here here’s some info for you, you will pretty much see any song from not only The Chainsmokers, but also Shawn Mendes in purple when it debuts Hitbound. I mean I’ve been stanning Mendes probably since Treat You Better came out in 2016, and I’ve only been stanning Drew and Alex(The Chainsmokers) since 2018, so I know this guys music more than I know their music. In fact I would’ve actually seen him and our next artist that I’m gonna talk about soon, this Friday, as he was supposed to be coming to Jacksonville, and I was actually gonna buy tickets before he cancelled the rest of his tour, and so because of that happening I didn’t think he’d be coming out with a new song for a while, but alas he’s in this movie called Lyle Lyle Crocodile and we have this new song from the soundtrack called Heartbeat, and I’m blown away by this, wow, give me a Purple Heart for this song(I usually only give Purple Hearts to anything off So Far So Good btw) this is amazing. The production evolves so well here, and it sounds like it fits the vibe perfectly. Shawn does such an amazing job here vocally and the writing is so good and it feels so real for some reason I don’t know why. Amazing song, this is definitely gonna compete for my next #1 song on my chart with Sigala, Lil Nas X, David Guetta, AJR, Lewis Capaldi and Yung Gravy(with C’est La Vie) let’s see what happens with it here though,

Oh this is awesome, another artist I stan(who was supposed to be opening for Mendes at his concerts) is debuting with a new song also, it’s Tate McRae with Uh Oh, and I will actually say here that I might have a bit of a crush on her(she’s kinda hot not gonna lie) she has a great voice though and she clearly shows that here. She sounds great here, and I like the production, it’s not nearly as good as her other songs such as You, or feel like shit or even She’s all I wanna be, simply because this is more of a trap vibe, and I’m perfectly fine with that. Compared to her other trap song that dropped out a few months ago when the album was released, the production here is way more bassy, and that just makes it sound a lot better. She sounds good with everything here, and I really like the writing. It’s not that catchy or exciting, but for what it is it does a great job at enhancing the song, and it’s a bit fun to. Overall it’s far from my favorite Tate song, but it’s still not bad. I hope it does well here.

24KGolden also dropped a new song that’s on Hitbound, and it’s, uh, well, not what I expected from 24KGolden, but despite that I still think Mistakes is a great song. The reason why this isn’t what I expected it to be is because it’s an accoustic ballad, and that’s not what I expect to hear from Golden, I want to heat trap from him, but it’s alright. The guitar strums here are nice, but a bit boring. Golden himself does a great job on the vocals though and I really like the writing. It’s catchy and very heartfelt and relatable. Overall nice little song, although it probably won’t do anything here.

We another major artist releasing a new song. Ed Sheeran released a new song called Celestial, and apparently it’s a Pokémon collab(not sure the story behind that) and since we all know it’ll probably hit #1 here for a million weeks, I might as well get used to listening to it right now. I think Ed has done a really great job at switching the vibes of his music lately, and that’s no exception here, as this is more of an accoustic EDM song. The production sounds great, and it really fits the vibe of the lyrics well. Ed sounds great here vocally, but he really uses his vocal power greatly in the Chorus. He hits those high notes really well here, and the writing is catchy, and very great. Like I said not sure the story behind this song, but I’m really liking it, so I hope it does great here, like we all know it will.

Lastly, we have a new Leah Kate song, and this ones called Monster. I really like the production here, as it’s a bit more trappy then her last songs, and Leah sounds great, but I’m not sold on the writing yet, it’s alright, but I think it’s gonna take about of getting used to. A bit forgettable, but overall not bad. I wouldn’t really care if this debuted.

We only lost 29 this week, and given the fact that it can’t get past #49 on Mediabase, we can safely say it’s gone. I never really loved the new style Demi went for anyways, so I’m alright with this song leaving.

The abyss

Morgan Wallen-Wasted on you

Benny Blanco/BTS/Smoop Dogg-Bad Decisions

The Weeknd-Die for you

Sia-Unstoppable

Macklemore/Windsor-MANIAC

Rosa Linn-Snap

Louis Tomlinson-Bigger than me

SPINFALL/DJ Snake/Summer Walker/Ayenna-Power(remember who you are)

Harry Styles-Daylight

Post Malone-Wrapped Around Your Finger

Armani White-Billie Eilish

Sam Smith/Kim Petras-Unholy

So I’m now having to fast track my posts just to get them out on time, although I have no survey yet since I don’t get one until Sunday, but it’s pretty safe to say that by streaming numbers and radio deals that Unholy is unfortunately in the abyss, it’s the only song I was unsure of, but it’s safe to say for now that it’s here. I’ll update with the exits next week.

Blurbs

I’m not too surprised to see that Calm Down, nor Pink Venom aren't doing good here, I mean they’re not really that special or memorable, more so Pink Venom though. I can definitely see why Hits 1 doesn’t like this song, it’s just so weird. I heard Shut Down for the first time the other day and I thought it was also weird, but not as bad as Pink Venom. Why does female K-pop have to be such a mess?

I think with this weeks drop I’m starting to realize that Make You Say isn’t gonna be a hit, which sucks cuz it’s a really good song, granted it has faded on me slightly since it came out, but now I’m starting to grow back into it more. I kinda wish Zedd,s music wasn’t treated so badly today.

I’m Good jumped 4 spots. This is really nice to see, this song is blowing up everywhere right now, even in America(how surprising) and so I’d love to see this go very far and become a hit, cuz If that can happen then maybe just maybe The Chainsmokers can prove themselves popular to(by the way they will definitely blow up the next time they have a song come out cuz rumors have it they have collabs with the late juice WRLD and Dua Lipa on the way, how do I know this? Cuz I’m in their discord) anyways, I love seeing I’m Good rise up the countdown, as it’s one of my favorite songs right now.

Why Steve Lacy is stalling here I have no clue, he’s literally top 10 everywhere else, in fact one of my local radio stations has Bad Habit on the top of their AirPlay chart, so why it’s not becoming a hit here I have no clue, but I wanna see another rise like we did 2 weeks ago, enough with the bullshit Hits 1.

Why is About Damn Time still here?????????????????

Until I found you and Maybe your the problem both moved down 3 spots. I honestly don’t see them sticking around much longer(not even the former)

Forget Me jumped 10 spots, as well as Worlds Smallest Violin. I’m very glad to see both of these songs doing well. I’ve grown into them a lot over the past week. I hope they can make the top 5 here at some point(yes even the song from over a year ago I hope makes it to the top 5)

Uh why is Betty(get my money) starting to fall????????? Can we just make it a hit please, even though it’s not as good as C’est La Vie, I still really like this song. The sample is genius like I’ve said before, so I hope they make this a hit.

Hold me closer is starting to become boring.

It’s so weird my first countdown back and Harry Styles is all the way down at #14 with Late Night Talking. This was #1 the last time I actually listened to the countdown, that shows how wack this countdown really is. It is kinda an annoying song, but in my mind they did this song dirty by dropping it from #1 to #15. Really weird, but whatever.

There goes Vegas dropping 3 spots again and out of the top 10. This is top 5 in the country right now, it should be much higher. At least we have I Like You in the top 5 though,

Bones is old and has been off the survey for weeks, so how it came back into the top 10 I have no clue,

Wow Music for a Sushi Restaurant fell 2 spots to #5. LMAO, maybe we can keep that up and it’ll never hit #1, in all honesty I wouldn’t care if it did hit #1 though.

I’m really hoping I Ain’t Worried can get to #1, it’s nice seeing it at #3.

Left and Right is #1 for the second week in a row, and I’d actually expect this to stick around for a bit given the fact that Charlie Puth has an album coming out this Friday. Either way though, I’m happy this is still #1, even if it’s not as good as Light Switch. I love the speaker gimmick this song plays on you when your listening to it, and I think Charlie is definitely getting smarter and better with how he makes music. Even though Smells like me was a bit basic, and That’s Hilarious never took off, I think he did a great job with them, and he’s done a great job with every single off this album, so that might intrigue me to want to listen to it(although there’s other stuff coming out on Friday that top that list). Nice job for Charlie though because this is a smash.

As for the lone exit, we only lost Grand, and I kinda saw this coming very quickly once it debuted. It took me time to really grow into it, and by the time I did it’s run was almost over anyways, so I don’t really care that it’s gone, plus we gained STAR WALKIN instead, and that’s one of my top 5 songs right now, so of course I was gonna say that,

On a sad note Spyder Harrison is departing from his mid-day shift on Hits 1 on weekdays, and while I think he sometimes gets annoying mainly by yapping a bit too much about The Bachelorette, I’m kinda sad he’s leaving cuz I love the guys voice so much and hearing him on the radio is really fun. He’s not going away though luckily he’ll still be hosting the countdown every weekend, which is awesome cuz he does an amazing job at doing it. I kinda wish I knew that though, and I’m actually gonna admit that I haven’t been listening to Hits 1 as much during the weekdays, In fact I haven’t been listening to them at all since maybe the week or 2 before I was hospitalized(so maybe 3 weeks now to a month) and it’s pretty much due to the fact that 2 Be Loved was becoming super annoying and overplayed, as well as Super Freaky Girl. Both are very annoying and I don’t wanna hear them on constant repeat every fucking day I go out and listen to the radio in the car, so yall can probably see why I’m not listening as much anymore during the day, it also has to do with the fact that my own personal chart is now filled more with non-radio songs, and/or Hitbound dropouts, I’d say about 50% of my chart now is filled with either songs that never got radio deals, or songs that have been serviced, but we all know won’t make the top 50 on Mediabase, and some of them are dropouts from Hitbound(like I just said) and I think it has to do with the fact that my prominent music genre is EDM, and of course my favorite artists had an album that’s underrated as all fuck, so for a while I got pissed at radio in general, in fact I was really pissed, I made a few rants on this blog about it, I even considered stopping my reviews of the countdown at some point because of it, and for a while I did stop the Instagram reviews, but I still follow this because I realize that there is some really good songs here still, and so my real point is that while Spyder is gonna be leaving Hits 1 during the daytime, I wish I heard him a bit more over the past month, but I couldn’t cuz I didn’t want to, and then of course y’all sorta know what happened a few weeks ago, but I realize that now and all I’m gonna say is I hope he does a great job announcing on The 10s spot(their 2010s music channel) and I think he will, and uh welcome in to the new guy who’s taking over for him, and as a part of Hits 1, I hope he makes their rotation a bit better during the day(cuz I still believe mostly that the DJs are bias in their rotation) and so, good luck to Spyder on the new job, I’ll miss him when I finally decide to tune in again one day, and good luck to Mack the new guy who’s taking over.

  1. Instead of playing the 2022 Maniac, they played the 2019 one.
Reminds me of last year when instead of 2021 Dynamite, they played the 2020 song of the same name.
    *facepalm*

THIS IS BULL FUCKING SHIT. I swear to god I will literally fly my fucking ass to New York and go straight to sirius fucking XM studios and make those fucking fuckers named Mikey and Jackie listen to the whole damn album again? I think I do because them nor anyone else in the world understand how special this album is to me and these guys in general. If people and radio(including hits 1) don’t start liking them or this album, then they can SuCk My DiCk, they can suck it real hard while I play this fucking album for them, like serisouly. I wanted to quit blogging once I saw the survey results, but I ate my fucking ice cream and I sat my ass down for an hour and I though and I worried that they were irrelevant, and I let it sink in, but now I’m here writing another fucking rant about how I think everyone should love these guys cuz guess fucking what everyone their not irrelevant and everyone and hits 1 is gonna realize that when fucking Sugarfish drops, which I hope is fucking soon, but for now I’m gonna sit my ass back wait 3 weeks and on the 22bd of this month when I turn 21 I’m have a bottle of champagne and blast this fucking album in my backyard and piss off my neighbors and I hope it’ll be at that moment everyone realizes how talented these 2 guys are. This album helped when I need it the most 2 weeks ago along with my friends family and the lord and savior and I am not gonna let it or the 2 guys who created it be forgotten. Fuck you Hits 1, get ready for some complaints from me on the surveys, and until then I hope you keep getting annoyed by me putting this on my survey when you how are we getting worse, and for gods sake take 2 be annoyed off of it and remove it from the countdown it’s so fucking annoying along with Nicki Minaj, so until then imma live my life C’est La Vie bitches."

    1. Looking back at this, I think I may have gone a bit too far(cuz the whole suck my dick thing), but I find it completely justified. BTW this is because the Hits 1 artist survey didn’t have The Chainsmokers on it.

  9. For the Hitbound dropouts rankdown this year me and the discord have agreed that because there’s a lot more dropouts than there should be, we are going to split it up into 3 parts. Part 1 will include dropouts from December-May, part 2 from June-November. They will each have around 50 songs each. In part 3 we will take the top 25 from each Rankdown and rank all of those, and at the end create a commutative list of rankings based on opinions and standings on points. If you would like to join part 1 will be hosted by Daniel, part 2 by ZestPond and part 3 by Waffle. Nothing has been created yet, but let me know if you’d like to join. I know this seems weirder than how we usually do it, but this way will make it easier for everyone to rank songs. I wasn’t on board with it at first, but now I am. I hope y’all consider joining and let me know if you have any questions.

    1. I think there needs to be a fourth part... There is well over 100 dropouts. Unless I read this wrong, how will we only get 50 songs in the end? Will anymore be added?

  11. Just wanted to let you all know, Trey is taking a break from blogging.

He said this in the discord:
"Alright guys, I think I’ve made the unfortunate decision that my charts are gonna go on hiatus. I don’t know for how long this’ll be in place for, but it’ll be at least until I feel like I can at least focus on my charts once again. These things leave me really sleepy after they happen, and it doesn’t really help that I have to get up early for school every morning, and I usually like to listen to my music during the night before I go to bed and when I workout(which I also won’t be doing for now) so just cuz of lower spin thresholds and preventing that from happening I think it’s best if I take a break because I was tired the whole week the last time this happened, and I just don’t know how tired I’m gonna be this week after having it happen again. I know it sucks, but just bare with it like I am, and I promise I’ll get through this. I know it’s tough to hear, but y’all are gonna get through this with me. I’m in good spirits though right now, and at least it’s nothing that’s gonna kill me, so I’m very lucky on that front. Anyways just wanted to let y’all know 💜"

So I kindly ask if we could all move the comments from his to my blog so he could escape the stress of comments here. Please, and thank you all!

2023’s album of the Summer: Album Review: The Chainsmokers: Summertime Friends

Tiesto/Tate McRae(6): Week of April, 29th 2023

Wow, this community is deserted. Why did I leave all of sudden with no word
