Nicky Youre/Dazy(2): Week of July, 16th 2022
Hello everyone and what’s up? Welcome back to another countdown and wow, I was surprised by this week. The countdown was pretty good(despite our one horrible debut) and Hitbound improved a lot. Before we get into it, I just wanted to let you guys know though that I will be releasing Summer Madness results most likely tomorrow. We still have 2 ties to settle, but I think I’m gonna just nominate songs to win since im taking a long time to reveal those results, and im sorry about that, I have been crazy busy lately, so that’s why I haven’t been able to reveal them yet and also because the ties kinda held me back, but that should be resolved soon and the results revealed, so we can start round 3. Anyways let’s get into this countdown now starting with our lone exit.

Debuts
We only have 1 debut this week, and it really had to be this one? Like seriously come on Hits 1, Glimpse of us from Joji had to debut. Come on y’all literally could’ve put in the new Black eyed peas song instead of this, this is so bland and boring seriously. Uh so If anyone didn’t know this already Joji literally is the guy who started up his career as viral YouTube sensations Filthy Frank and Pink Guy, and it’s unbelievable to think that this guy goes from creating viral and funny meme songs to creating this crap, wow that’s really embarrassing and he didn’t age too well. First off you can actually tell it’s him here because his voice is very distinct and it has that deep-ish accent that actually sounds like Pink Guy, yeah uh he doesn’t sound good at all though here, the accent most certainly does not work with the boring and bland Piano ballad style production and it’s so simple and slow that it makes it very substance-less I think it’s one of the most boring songs I have ever heard on radio like literally. The writing is really good, I’ll give it that but it’s not really that memorable so it doesn’t really do anything to save it from being awful. This can leave any day now, we don’t need it jacking up space here.
Biggest jump of the week: Stephen Sanchez-Until I found you(+14) Woah, I did not see that big jump coming. Uh this really surprised me. I’ve been trying to grow into this song, but somehow it never seems to stick with me, but ok I guess.
Biggest drop of the week: Megan Thee Stallion/Dua Lipa-Sweetest Pie & Harry Styles-As it was(-9) Lets go for As it was being booted from the top 10, that saves it from being horrible, and as for Sweetest Pie can it just leave already it’s been here way too long.

Debuts
Ok so Hitbound seems to have really improved this week and uh what in the hell is this? 2 weeks ago I wrote 2 of the biggest rants ever about 2 songs that I am currently in love with leaving the countdown after having really bad countdown runs, well it seems as if one of those 2 songs has returned this week to uh Hitbound and not the abyss this time and it has a remix, and even this isn’t the 1 out of the 2 songs that I wanted to re-enter I completely don’t care at all, but uh yeah so Jiggle Jiggle by Duke & Jones and Louis Theroux has now re-entered Hitbound and has also apparently been re-serviced to pop radio because of a remix with Jason Derulo, and it has a bigger chance of becoming a hit because Derulo is known to be the king of TikTok and that is where the original version of this song still reigns. The remix is quite good actually, it adds an extra 30 seconds and 2 verses from Derulo. He sounds great here, and I really like how he’s mixed into the background of the chorus, it just makes it sound better. There’s always downsides to these remixes though and this one in particular is the fact that they completely took out Louis Theroux’s original verse, which I found(and still find) quite enjoyable to listen to, also it’s a bit noteable to point out that Derulo’s writing did get slightly sexual and I kinda didn’t see that was the vibe this song was supposed to go for, so overall I think I still prefer the original over this, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad song, I just like Louis Theroux’s rapping batter than Jason’s singing. Overall this isn’t that bad though it only just adds to the fact that the original is already a great song anyways, so I don’t really mind it. Next.
Next we have the new single from Lizzo’s new album called Special and In short this song is not that special(pun intended) it’s decent but nothing else really. The production is upbeat but really really basic sounding and Lizzo sounds great. Particularly I love the key change at the end also, but this is the most forgettable thing I think I’ve ever heard from her, like it just doesn’t come back to me after I listen to it, and in my book that’s not a good thing, there’s better than this. Next.
Demi Lovato released another single off her upcoming album Holy Fvck called Substance and it’s way better than her previous release called Skin of my teeth. Demi sounds awesome here, and she really fits in well with the pop-punk production, which sounds great. The writing was really well done to, and a bit relatable. Definitely more memorable than Skin of my teeth. This should’ve been the lead single instead of that one. Alright next.
Woah ladies and gentlemen what the hell have I just discovered, I think I have literally just heard the song of the summer. Most of you guys probably know by now that I’ve been constantly streaming I Love U since the start of summer, and it’s had 9(yes 9) weeks on top of my personal chart, so lately I’ve been calling it the song of the summer, but like I just said I literally think I have just found that song and it’s in this new funky mashup between Calvin Harris, Justin Timberlake, Halsey and Pharrell Williams called Stay with me. Harrises lead single off his new album Funk Wav Bounces Vol 2 is currently on the countdown and now we have this 3 weeks before this album drops. I’m very excited to see who he’s gonna collaborate with on this album, I already know one of the songs has Charlie Puth on it, but who else, we’ll just have to wait and find out. This song really should’ve been the lead single over Potion because it’s way better. Potion was somewhat underwhelming and I’m just now starting to realize that, but this is perfect. Calvin Harris did a fantastic job producing this, it’s upbeat it’s funky, it’s got that summertime vibe to it, it’s mixed very well and it sounds like something that came straight out of the 80s, which is always great to hear in modern music. Let’s get to these vocalists though, while this isn’t Halsey’s best vocal performance ever, I think she does a great job on the hook of this song, and I like how she blends in with Timberlake on the pre-chorus when she says,” Damn, and Blam.” She just fits in perfectly here. Timberlake sounds great here to, especially in the chorus though because that’s where he hits some slightly higher notes really well, and he sounds great when he does that. I think he’s always had a Great falsetto and that’s no exception here. The best vocalist on this is easily Pharrell Williams though, he only sings a very short little pre-chorus but he sounds amazing in it, and he fits in very well with the production. As far as writing goes, it’s very fun and catchy writing and it’s very appropriate writing for the funk vibe this song has. Overall fantastic song, this might challenge a few songs for #1 on my personal chart.
5 Seconds of Summer released the next single off their(not so highly anticipated) new album 5SOS5 called Blender, and like I just said about a song sounding like it came out of the 80s, this kinda sounds like an 80s song to. The production is really nice and it reminds me a lot about Stay and Light switch. It’s upbeat, It’s cool and overall way less basic than in songs like Me, Myself and I. The guys all sound great here, although it does kinda sound like it’s only Luke Hemings only doing the vocals. He does get a bit high pitched in the chorus when he says the words,” Emotional blender.” But overall it’s not that bad and it doesn’t bring it down. The writing here is super interesting to and while it’s not the best thing I’ve heard I think it’s very creative. I’m not saying it’s their best song, but overall this is up there for them. Way better than Me, Myself & I.
How long have we been waiting for this return, I think maybe just about 3 years. That’s right it’s been 3 years since Ellie Goulding put out her last song with none other than the late and great Juice Wrld back in 2019 they had a song called Hate Me, and it was pretty good, but before that she brought us Close to me with rapper Swae Lee, and that was my favorite song from her, and ever since then she’s been on Hiatus and hasn’t released a thing, but now she’s back after 3 long years away(hey that’s longer than The Chainsmokers Hiatus) and she brings us this new song called Easy Lover, and it features another rapper, this time that being Big Sean, and I gotta say whoever produced the beat on this is great at what they do because this sounds like yet another 80s sounding song in my opinion, it’s so basic but yet it delivers some great sounds, and Ellie Goulding sounds great on it. Big Sean really adds to this also, and he compliments her voice well. The writing is also very catchy and memorable. Let’s make this a hit please.
Our last debut finally shows up, like FINALLY Hits 1 picks up a song from Future and Drake(oh wait they did that when they got Way 2 sexy) this is the one off Futures recent album that has been getting constantly streamed and streamed that it actually spent some time at #1 on The Hot 100. It’s called Wait For U, and it’s decent. I really would’ve expected a bit more upbeat trap vibe from this collab, but what we got was a slower R&B vibe, and it’s alright, but a trap beat would’ve worked way better on this. Drake sounds great on this, his verse is really good and Future sounds alright. Tems has a really annoying presence though, all she’s doing is singing in a really high pitched voice in the background of the beat, and that’s distracting, so for that reason I couldn’t really understand what Future was saying, and also because he was mumble rapping the whole time, but if he sounds good then I’m alright with it. Overall it’s decent and it might grow on me, but we’ll see.
As for the Hitbound exits, we lost W.I.T.C.H, Got me good, and Betty(Get money). Got me good was forgettable, so I don’t really mind that it’s gone, but the other 2 are great and it would’ve been nice to see them debut. Something tells me that they’ll re-enter though at some point.

Looks like Numb little bug is definitely now on it’s last week here, it’s about damn time it fell hard and we got it out of here because it’s just been sitting here for way too long. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good song and I really like it, but it’s kinda gotten annoying with how it’s stayed here for this long, it should’ve left 2-3 weeks ago.
BeyoncΓ© moves up 3 spots with Break My Soul and something is telling me I’m really gonna start to enjoy this song even more so than I am right now, but something also tells me that it’s not gonna do good here at all.
Devil doesn’t bargain took a decent fall down to #24 and with the amount of AirPlay this song has I’m surprised it’s not gone. It really shouldn’t be here, although I do like it a bit.
Looks like Hits 1 is making Tai Verdes a thing again as Sheluvme moves up 3 spots to #23, and I’m really starting to enjoy this one, it just has that feel good vibe that I need, and Tai Verdes isn’t that bad of a vocalist either. Nice little song, let’s make it do something please.
Left and Right moved up 5 spots to #20 despite having very little AirPlay all week. I’m really starting to enjoy this more and more, so I find the move good. I also am now understanding the left and right speaker gimmick that the song uses, and wow it is genius, it even works when I listen to it on my phone. Charlie really is the king of gimmicks isn’t he.
How Love me more is still here and jumping is questionable, I mean are people really voting for this forgettable snoozefest.
Noooooooooooooo! Why is 10 things I hate about you starting to drop, I mean yes I am a bit burnt out from listening to it, but come on it had a lot of upward momentum I thought the last few weeks. Oh well though.
Numb finally made a nice move this week. It’s also my favorite countdown song this week, so that’s great.
I like you also moved up 6 spots, and while I find myself now loving Numb even more now, I still love this song, and I’m really happy it moved up,
Ok but Me, Myself & I didn’t have to move up, let’s hope this crap gets replaced by Blender soon.
Potion is now in the top 10, and like I said before this is really underwhelming compared to Stay with me, but watch me bitch and complain when it gets blocked at #1 by Harry Styles because that’s probably what’s gonna happen,
Supermodel also surprisingly moved up in the top 10 to #7, and I’d love for this to hit the top 5, it just gives great rock vibes. Let’s goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. MAKE THIS A HIT HITS 1.
Late night talking is now at #3 and will probably hit #1 next week, cuz this is Hits 1, where we just have to make every Harry Styles song #1. I don’t mind this song for now, but I feel like I’m going to get very tired of it very fast and I might have to pull it from my chart if that happens, but I hope that doesn’t happen, let’s keep this out of being #1 for too long please.
Sunroof held onto the #1 song for a second week, and like I just said this’ll probably get dethroned next week, but let’s hope not because I like this song quite a bit, even if it is way too fucking loud when I blast it on full volume lol.
Our only exit was All 4 nothing(I’m so in love) and while I didn’t really like this song all that much, I would’ve much rather had it stay then what we gained, or better yet had Don’t you worry or some other great song debut instead. The song had a great run here though even though I won’t really miss it, so nice job it it I guess.
