Lil Nas X(2): Week of February,5th 2022
Hello Everybody what’s up. I hope y’all have had an amazing week, and are having an amazing weekend right now. I’m sorry this post was a bit delayed, but I had some other plans that were more fun, and worthy to do on Saturday(for once) but of course I can’t just leave this countdown behind, so here we go again for another wild week of Hits 1. The countdown this week was the best one we’ve had all year so far. We’ve got some debuts that I’m already considering for best and worst songs of the year so far. Hitbound is not looking great though. Over half of the songs on there I now don’t like, and the majority of the debuts this week sucked and were super irrelevant, anyways I’ll explain more in the post, but for right now here’s our exits for the week.

Debuts
Alright so with how interesting this countdown was I think I’m gonna go out of order with our debuts and review the great ones first, then the worst one, then the best one will be last. Anyways first off we have a song that I’ve been waiting to review now for a while, because it’s grown on me a lot since it debuted Hitbound back in November. It’s called Have mercy and it’s by Chloe of the band Chloe x Halle. Now I don’t really listen to Chloe x Helle, but I’ve heard they’re pretty popular. I thought this was just decent at first, but since Hits 1 started pushing it it’s really started to grow on me(even though it moved down on my chart this week) anyways I think Chloe sounds great here, she’s got a great voice for an R&B artist, and her rapping verse is really great to. The production here is pretty good to, I’m liking the trap, and the sample from the down-pitched vocalist in the background is catchy, I love the,” Work work it work it.” Part, it just makes it even more fun in my opinion. Overall I think it’s the perfect blend of R&B, rap and upbeatness, and I’m loving it. Alright next.
Alright moving on to our highest debut of the week from Avril Lavigne and Blackbear that’s replacing Bite me this week, we have Love it when you hate me. This is significantly better than Bite me, and for great reasons to. Avril Lavigne sounds amazing here, and she really fits in with the production. Blackbear does a great job on his guest verse also, and they have great chemistry together in the later parts of the song. Travis Barker did a really great job on this production here to. The trap sounds great, and when it’s blended with the drum beat, you really do get a great mix of sounds. Lyrically this is super catchy to. Overall awesome debut.
Alright so I am really dreading this next one(which makes it even more fun to review because our last song is amazing) it’s I love you so by The Walters. This is really not great at all, and here’s why. First off this sounds like a complete snoozefest to sit through, the production is boring as hell, and just doesn’t sound good enough to be on radio. The guy singing here sounds really horrible to, he has one of the worst voices I have ever heard, and this is so boring and pointless that the lyrics are barely enough to hold up this song, when I hear it on Hits 1 I can’t even pay attention to it, that’s how bad it is, cuz it sounds depressing as hell with all these slow elements on it. I think I’ve said enough on this, shall we move onto better songs, and oh yes we shall(I bet you expected me to write that didn’t you).
Alright and the last(and surprisingly not even the HIGHest debut of the week, get the pun there) we have this little piece of heaven from The Chainsmokers called High. Now I wrote a shit ton of words about this last week, so I’m gonna keep it kinda short, but first I just gotta say wow, Um this is like already top 10 in AirPlay, and so for that reason I’m very surprised that this didn’t debut as high up as Sacrifice did last week, or even Shivers, especially for how much Hits 1 stans these guys, I mean they had the #1 song of 2019, so I really did expect a higher debut, but ok I’ll take this given the fact that it’ll probably hit #1 here at some point anyways. Ok so now onto the actual song. The production here sounds amazing, or if you want it in other language it’s 🔥. You can really tell they’ve evolved their production from their last album. The trap sounds really well produced here, and I like how the BPM is insanely fast cuz that makes it even more fun to listen to. The beat switch in the bridge sounds amazing to, and I really like the mixing they did with the house and trap in that part. Drew Taggert sounds really good here(and let’s just be clear here he doesn’t sound like he has any auto tune on his voice here, no matter how many people say he’s drowned in it) he’s got a really great voice, and he hits those high notes really well. The talking parts are a bit meh, but the buildup is great enough in those parts, that it doesn’t make it sound annoying. Lyrically this is some great writing to, talking about change, and it’s super repetitive and catchy. Will Hits 1 make this a hit, I think they will, but we’re just gonna have to hang on to find out. Anyways amazing debut, and hey this is already taking over my chart to so yay.
Best debut of the week: The Chainsmokers-High
Biggest jump of the week: Charlie Puth-Light switch(+15) Wow! already in the top 10. That’s amazing. I’m really liking this song right now, so this is a great move up for it. Hopefully it can have some more success here, and judging by this jump, I think it will.
Biggest drop of the week: Elton John/Dua Lipa/PNAI-Cold heart and Adele-Easy on me(-8) these songs both hit new lows this week, and while I do still like them a lot, they’re getting really old and overplayed now, so I’m fine with them both dropping. It’s also very interesting to mention that with Hits 1 changing up their rotation so much this week, that this is the first ever week since Easy on me debuted that I haven’t heard it a single time when I’ve listened to Hits 1, now that’s refreshing for me since I’m a guy who usually listens when he works out. I’m still kinda sad to see both these songs runs coming to an end though here, as I still like them very much.

Debuts
Alrighr this is absolutely one of the worst fucking Hitbound lists I have ever seen throughout the time I’ve listened to Hits 1. I don’t think I’ve seen this many bad songs on any given list, This is gonna be really fun to go over. Isn’t it.
Kicking off with a debut I can actually tolerate(surprisingly) we finally get Chosen by rappers Blxst, Ty dolla $sign and Tyga. Now this is becoming a little hit so I’m glad it’s here. Now it’s supposed to be on the verge for my chart , but since I didn’t think Hits 1 was ever gonna get it at this point I took it off, oh well it’s still a great song though. The production here is awesome, and it sounds great. Blxst has a really great voice, and I think he’s the big highlight here, his chorus is super catchy, and he sounds great throughout. Ty dolla $ign and Tyga also do great jobs in their verses and sound great here. The writing is a bit sexual, but it’s fun enough and kinda funny enough at times that I just can’t hate it(are you shocked by that cuz I bet you are) anyways awesome debut.
Next we have uh a song from 2019(why are we making this a thing now picking up old songs) called So hot your in my feelings from a singer named Caroline Palochek. Now shockingly I’ve heard of this vocalist cuz she has a newer song out with Charli XCX, and after hearing this yeah I don’t think I’ll be listening to that song. Her voice is very annoying, and does not fit in with the production at all here. The production is eh alright I guess, but the vocals bring it down too much for me cuz it just doesn’t go well mixed here. The writing okay at best, but it’s nothing special and it’s super forgetful. Overall let’s not make this a hit please. Next.
Alright another irrelevant song, by more irrelevant artists. This ones by some singer named Stacy Ryan, and some rapper named Za1k. It’s called Don’t text me while your drunk, and what do ya know it sucks. The production here is very much like the production on don’t miss me, which I already don’t like, it just doesn’t sound great. Stacy Ryan doesn’t really have a great voice here either, and neither does Za1k, and once again it’s super forgettable. Next.
Finally we get to our first relevant artist and relevant song on this list. It’s Tate McRaes latest song called She’s all I wanna be, and it’s quite good. The production here is super upbeat and fun, and Tate sounds really good here. The writing here is really good to, and it’s kinda catchy. Overall not horrible for Tate.
Next we have some singer named Em Beihold with her song called Numb little bug. This is decent, not the best thing, but also not the worst. She sounds fine here, and the writing is good, but I’m not really on board with the production, it just doesn’t fit in here. It’s also very forgettable. Not the worst thing, but not the best either.
Another great song(wow how surprising given the fact that I’m not liking the majority of these debuts) this one is Machine Gun Kelly and Willows new song called Emo girl, and it’s really good. First off Machine Gun Kelly sounds awesome here, as he does in most of his songs, and so does Willow. She sounds way better here than in songs like Meet me at our spot. The production from Travis Barker is really awesome to, and the writing is super great for the pop/punk genre. Overall great debut..
we don’t talk about Bru-No no no no! Why the fuck did they have to get this song. Oh my God talk about annoying. We don’t talk about Bruno from the Disney movie Encanto, the #1 song on the hot 100 is finally here, and yeah I was not hoping for this to debut, but whatever it did. Now I’m not exactly sure the reason as to why people even like this, cuz it’s really not good at all. No one, and I mean NO ONE sounds great here at all, and the production is just very mediocre, and once again it doesn’t sound like something that should be played on the radio. The writing here is eh a bit catchy I guess, but it just can’t hold this up enough for me to like it. Next.
Finally we have our last debut for Hitbound(yay) and I bet many people are confused as to why they see it in red, so let me just explain. We’ve got Pushin P here from Gunna, Future and Young thug. Now I like a lot of rap songs, and I like a lot of stuff from both Future and Young thug, in fact I still listen to Way 2 sexy. This right here though is such a stupid song. First off it doesn’t even sound like Gunna has a presence here, it sounds like it’s just Future and Young thug. Now we get to them. First off Future sounds really lame and mediocre here, and Young thug even though he has a kinda catchy verse, sounds bad to. The writing here is also so dumb. I mean I feel like they’re just saying Pushin P the whole damn time, they repeat it way too much and it’s overly annoying. The production here is also just not good, it’s very basic and minimalistic sounding for a trap beat. Overall this is so pointless and stupid to have here, like why couldn’t we have just put Wandered to LA back in, cuz that’s better than this nonsense.
It’s noteable to mention that we have no Sunday bests this week. Finally, that’s awesome! It better not happen again next week though cuz if it does I’ll be mad.
As for the Hitbound exits. When I’m gone, Peru and The motto are in the abyss, but the actual exits were Deloreon and Ur just horny. Deloreon was never a good country song and was never gonna be a hit anyways, so I’m completely fine with it being gone, as for Ur just horny though, really, I mean I know it probably wasn’t gonna ever be big like abcdefu, but I’m really enjoying it right now. Not a good decision Hits 1, especially when you know you have a totally creative edit for it.

Ok, so When I’m gone, Peru and The motto all left Hitbound and are now in the abyss. I’m hoping everything here can actually debut at this point except for Peru and Love nwantiti, like I don’t even understand why they’re even trying with Love nwantiti anymore it was on the countdown for long enough.
Hitbound songs that make sense being here
Blxst/Ty dolla $ign/Tyga-Chosen
Tate McRae-She’s all I wanna be
Anitta-Boys don’t cry
Niki-Every summertime
Encanto Cast-We don’t talk about Bruno
88Rising/Bibi-The weekend
This kinda says how many irrelevant songs we have on Hitbound right now.
Songs that need to debut to make sense
Altego/Brittney Spears/Genuine-Toxic Piny
Alya-Pleasure is mine
Jena Rose-Checkmate
Wow only 3 songs that Hits 1 would need to get that’s awesome.
Blurbs
So gaining High means that the stupid uncreative and lazy excuse of a song called Do it to it is still here and Jumping in the bottom 5???????? Ok so we gain a great one, and still have a bad one I guess, but seriously can this song just fuck off, cuz at this point it’s getting overly annoying, and for God sakes I can’t stand that intro that Spyder uses in the background whenever he introduces this(the squid game one) at least the good thing is we have some other EDM songs in the abyss right now that could overtake this, and I’d really prefer if that happened, and with that my theory is disproven that High would take over this, because it didn’t end up leaving this week, but what’s gonna replace it? We’ll just have to wait to see.
Need to know keeps dropping. Yay we’re closer to getting this gross song out of here.
Big energy jumped this week. That’s awesome cuz I’m loving this one right now, hopefully it jumps even more in the coming weeks.
Woman also jumped this week. I’m really impressed by this to, and I’m starting to really like this one even more now.
WYD now? Jumped. Alright, I’m cool with this, but Is it really still the one to watch.
Enemy also jumped. Yeah I’m not really liking this one right now, especially since they started playing the JID remix of it, cuz he makes it even worse.
I hate you also rebounded after dropping last week. Yeah ok like I said last week don’t really care.
Shivers dropped to a new low of #13, which is awesome cuz it became annoying a long long time ago. I hope this leaves soon, but at the same time I hope that when it does they don’t pull that crap where Peru will replace this because that songs way worse than this is.
Ghost town jumped huge also, which I’m quite impressed by as I’m loving this one right now.
Speaking of One right now, it’s starting to really fade on me and get annoying because of overplay, which is unbelievable considering that Ghost, cold heart, and Easy on me have all had longer runs than this, and I still find them more tolerable than this. Lol
Feel like shit is now in the top 10, although we all know it’ll leave next week in place of She’s all I wanna be.
Message in a bottle also jumped, could this maybe knock another song out of the top 5, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Man Ghost can just not make it past #4 here now can it.
That’s what I want holds onto #1 for a second week Im a row now. Nice job. Come on hits 1, let’s keep this cockblocking going for a bunch of weeks until High can get up there(cuz ya know that’ll probably be the next big #1 song)
As for the exits, it kinda sucks to see Moth to a flame go, but at least they did something with it unlike other stations, Smokin out the window was a major flop, and so was I feel good, and I’ll miss them both, and Bite me surprisingly grew on me a lot while it was here, but Love it when you hate me is way better, so I’m not complaining that it’s gone.
#1 recommendation for Hits 1: Iann Dior/Travis Barker/Machine Gun Kelly-Thought it was
