Ed Sheeran(2): Week of February, 26th 2022

Hello everyone, I hope y’all are having a great weekend. This week was another really solid week for the countdown. Hitbound though is still not impressing me by that much. I have great news regarding Hits 1 though at the end of the blurbs , so stick around to see what that is. I’m sorry that my personal chart was delayed by a few days also. I always aim to post those here on Fridays, but I just keep getting caught up in other plans on Fridays, so I never have time to make those posts here on those days, but I always have them on CrownNote on Fridays, so if you wanna see them before I post them here you can go to CrownNote and follow me, my username is Rockstar Trey. I will keep posting them here though, so that people who don’t wanna go to CrownNote can still see them, they might not come on Fridays though depending on how much other stuff I’m doing. I also have my 5,000 pageview special coming here very soon, and also I’m hoping to still be able to have time to post my Hits 1 stats post from last year. I’m sorry I’ve been behind on those posts, but between schoolwork and working on these charts, and reviewing the countdown it’s hard sometimes, but the good thing though is that I’ll be off of school in 2 weeks for Spring break, so I can catch up on those posts then if I need to. Anyways let’s get into the countdown now. Starting with the exits.

Debuts

First up we’ve got our latest Hits 1 to watch Eddie Benjamin(who is not at all related to Alec Benjamin, even though I’m totally convinced he is) with his new song Weatherman. I went over this last week, so I’ll be very brief here. This song is pretty good. Eddie Benjamin’s voice sounds good, and the writing is nice, positive and catchy. The production here somehow reminds me of a older 70s vibe, and I’m not sure exactly why, but it just does. It’s upbeat and funky all in one song. Overall nice debut from a 1 to watch.

Well hey look at what we have here more EDM music getting put into rotation and on the countdown, what a novel idea from Hits 1 considering the fact that I’m literally loving almost every EDM song on on the planet right now. Now tell me where’s that new one from Regard, oh shit wait they don’t have it. Damnit Hits 1, well at least you have High, and The Motto, and this little slice of heaven right here called When I’m gone by Swedish DJ Alesso and Katy Perry. This is really good, and I’m so happy that it’s finally on the countdown. Alesso did a great job on the production here, it’s got a darker vibe, but it works really well, and Katy sounds awesome. I also love how Alesso Incooperated those down pitched vocals in the pre-chorus and mixed them with Katys, that just makes it sound more amazing. This is very catchy and has some really good writing to. Overall let’s go. I’m hoping it can do well here.

Biggest jump of the week: Em Beihold-Numb little bug(+8)  Awesome, I’m really starting to love this one right now, so I hope this is a great sign that it’ll do good here.

Biggest drop of the week: Lil Nas X-That’s what I want(-5) This dropped out of the top 5 to #7. I love this song, but I’m alright with this since it’s been here long enough and since it’s had a really great run for the top.

Debuts

Really. I mean come on really. Only one debut and 3 Sunday bests. I know there’s not a lot to pick up on right now but come on Hits 1 you can do better than this.

Well well well enough of my bitching about Hitbound, and onto this amazing debut. Y’all already know I love EDM, and there’s a lot of producers out there who’s EDM I like. Right now I’m loving The Chainsmokers, but over the past few years I’ve really been getting into other artists music since their whole hiatus began. I’ve really started loving Tiesto, Regard, Martin Garrix, and who else but this guy who has our only debut right here, Kygo. I really had a hard Time getting into Kygos  music for a while, but he’s finally come around to me, and I’ve really come to love his production style. In fact if you didn’t know something very awesome, he actually was featured on a track from The Chainsmokers last album World War Joy called Family. Overall that was the 2nd best song off that album if you ask me, and if you haven’t heard it yet then you really really should, the story behind it is unbelievable and amazing, and with it the writing really resonated me on that one. I’m pretty convinced that Kygo himself produced that whole thing to, since it’s very Kygo style with the long drops and such. If you haven’t heard it yet like I said give it a listen it’s nothing like really any other song by The Chainsmokers, including High. Uh anyways so Kygo is teaming up with Joe Jonases band DNCE on our only debut this week called Dancing Feet, and man this is amazing. Ya know I could see this maybe dethroning High for #1 on my chart in a few weeks, but we’ll see what happens. Anyways. Joe Jonas and DNCE sound awesome here, and they really give it a great vocal power, way better than in songs like Cake by the ocean and Kissing strangers. The production here is amazing to. Kygo did a really great job with this. It’s upbeat, it has that nice Kygo style drop that I love, and I like the incooperation of the mixed vocals in the breakouts. I also love the instrumental in the beginning it sounds very regal, or elegantI should I say. The buildup is great to, and finally the writing is not only very catchy, but it’s very positive, and dance worthy. Overall can this maybe dethrone Hjgh for #1 in a few weeks on my own chart, you’ll just have wait and see, of course you’ll have to see how it does here to. Overall amazing debut, hopefully it does great here.

No exits for once this week. Nice.

The abyss

Anitta-Boys don’t cry

CKay-Love nwantiti(ah ah ah)

Daisy the great/AJR-Record player

Fireboy DML/Ed Sheeran-Peru

Juice wrld/Justin Beiber-Wandered to LA

The Walters-I love you so

I’m really surprised that Peru is still here and on the survey, cuz it seems like it’s gotten virtually no AirPlay in a few weeks.

Songs that need to debut to make sense

Jennifer Lopez/Maluma-Marry me

ALYA-Plwasure is mine

Chris Brown-Iffy

Altego/Brittney Spears/Genuwine-Toxic pony

Jena Rose-Checkmate

Iann Dior-Let you(as a re-entry)

Diplo/Miguel-Don’t forget my love

There’s so many songs that are just sitting towards the bottom of the mediabase chart right now, and a lot of songs keep Re-entering as they get more AirPlay, so it’s kinda confusing to tell what has to debut, the only song I can for sure guarantee  will continue to be on this list if they don’t pick it up is Don’t forget my love, because that ones supposed to be serviced to other stations. These other ones are kinda just hanging around for right now, so we’ll have to see what happens.

Blurbs

Closer fell to the bottom off it’s debut last week, I really hope this one doesn’t flop here, or Re-enter Hitbound or go to the abyss cuz this is one of my favorite songs right now.

Have mercy finally jumped, even if it’s only 2 spots. Yay I guess.

How long are they gonna keep The Joker and The Queen for? It’s so dull and emotional and boring all combined into one snoozefest of a listen. Guess what crap they pulled on me the other day to. They literally play this like right as I’m finishing my workout, and then they play High right after, which made me go back and sit through this torture again on my way home, and then after High they played I love you so. See how rotation can fuck with you sometimes.

Do it to it jumped 4 spots. Yeah ok when I said I like most EDM songs earlier, I meant literally every other EDM song except for this one, like come on there’s no serious appeal to this just drop it and give up Hits 1.

Anxiety and emo girl are right back to where they both debuted  2 weeks ago. Ok I guess.

I hate U and Message in a bottle both fell 4 spots. For I hate U I really don’t care as it’s like one of the most boring songs I’ve heard that’s out there right now, as for message in a bottle it made it into the top 5, and I still like it quite a bit, so I’m a bit disappointed.

For tonight is starting to get old, and a bit boring.

So uh despite having like very very little AirPlay, somehow The Motto keeps on jumping. Now how the hell is this at #17 and it has very very little AirPlay? I don’t know, maybe just because it’s been on the Hit-maker 5 for a lot of nights, but we need to up the AirPlay on this one by a lot Hits 1, cuz we don’t need this flipping right out of the gate.

High, or should I say Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh, or should I just call it pure vibes at this point, made a jump up 4 more spots to #13 this week. Let’s go for top 10 next week please. Yeah no lecture on this one for this week, I mean y’all already know I’m loving it so yeah next.

Nice to see Love it when you hate me in the top 10.

Oh my God dropped out of the top 5 to #6. Oh well for this hitting #1.

abcdefu is back in the top 5. Let’s gooooooooooooooooooooooo. Now can we get this to #1 please.

Yeah this top 5 is not really the best I’ve seen in a while. Enemy, or as I will now call it Enemeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee is now in the top 5 at #3. Really let’s not make this one a hit. Let’s hope that these other songs can block it cuz it’s really starting to get even more annoying with overplay.

Light switch is now at #2. Can this get to #1 in the coming weeks. I think it can cuz they’ve been really showing they’re love to Charlie Puth lately on their social media’s, so that could be a sign of a future #1 in sight. I’d personally love it if it hit #1 to cuz this song is a bop. It’s pretty much what I’d call stay 2.0, but without the stay lyrics cuz stay 3.0 is stays lyrics but not it’s production, and if you wanna know what that one is weirdly it’s High. I mean come it’s about change right. Yeah it is you get what I’m saying. Ok so Light switch to #1 please Hits 1.

Overpass Graffiti is now #1 for the 2nd week in a row. Overall I’m not gonna complain, I’m actually  quite impressed, although wait this might drive up The Joker and the Queen. Oh well I don’t care too much.

As for our exits this week we lost Cold heart and Better days. These songs were getting a bit old and overplayed, and they had really great runs here, so I’m fine that they’re both gone. I’m also really glad that the latter one hit a peak of #3 though while it was still here after it’s run as 1 to watch. Nice job with that Hits 1. I will miss these songs.

I’m finally happy to announce I got my first Hits 1 survey this week after 5 months. Guess why I wasn’t getting them all along. It’s cuz I used the wrong website to sign up. That’s stupid but alright I got a bit confused by that I will admit. I had no clue they had 2 websites for Hits 1, I guess I went to the old one instead of the new one first. Lol moment for me.

#1 recommendations for Hits 1 Regatd/Years & Years-Hallucination(oh come on it’s on the Hitbound channel just get it) Internet Money/24Kgoldn-options(This was on the goldn hour this week, so why didn’t we get it????????) Clean bandit/A7S-Everything but you & Big time rush-Call it like I see it(did anyone know these guys reunited and started making music again after 10 years. This is like my childhood memories right here)

Thanks for reading and see y’all in the next one.

    1. What about the Regard Remix of Better Days? If that is Ride It part 4, wouldn't Hallucination be Ride It Part 5?

    2. I actually consider Hallucination to be more of a Secrets 2.0 cuz it sounds like that song more than Ride It.

  2. 5 oldest songs? I don't see that on here.

    1. I just added it, so you should see them now. Thanks for pointing that out, or else I wouldn’t have even noticed myself. Don’t know how I missed them, but that shouldn’t happen again.
