Taylor Swift(3): Week of December, 3rd 2022
Hello everyone and what’s up? I’m sorry this post was late, but I’ve had a really interesting weekend filled with both great and not so great emotions(at times) and plus I just wanted to be lazy and let myself drift off and dream a little, so uh yeah. A few announcements before we get into the countdown though, first off I think I am going to officially announce here that because of the fact that this countdown is usually super boring around this time of the year and because of the fact that I’d like to have time to focus on finishing up my year end posts before I go out of town for Christmas on the 18th, I think this will be the last countdown I review in 2022. It’s not the countdowns fault, but with the fact that I have lots going on this weekend and then next weekend I’d have to get my post out on Saturday, and then the fact that this countdown isn’t exactly memorable in December, and will probably continue to be not so memorable, I’d rather stop reviewing the countdown for the year now so that I can have time to do other things, while relaxing and finishing up my schoolwork and year end posts, but of course that doesn’t mean I’m quitting, I’ll be back in 2023 to review more songs and more countdowns, so to everyone who’s stuck with me throughout this year thank you guys a lot, it has meant the world to me. As for year end posts, I’m not sure exactly sure when they’ll be out with the holidays coming up around the corner, but I will try to get them out by the time I leave. I already have pretty much the whole best list done, and will be working on the worst list next week, so hopefully they’ll both be out then, but I can’t give an exact timeline yet, but just know that if they don’t come before Christmas they’ll come soon after, and with that I’d like to send everyone a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year, and I will see you all again for year ends, but until then let’s get into this countdown and more to come in 2023.

No debuts this week. Sweet!
Biggest jump of the week: Meghan Trainer-Made You Look & AJR-Worlds Smallest Violin(+5) I’m happy to see Worlds Smallest Violin get a boost, but why is Made You Look becoming so popular, I’m sorry, but it kinda sucks, we don’t need it becoming a hit,
Biggest drop of the week: Steve Lacy-Bad Habit(-9) For the sake of time I will not rant about this song dropping as hard as it did, but I think for how amazing it is, that it should’ve definitely hit the top 5 here or at least had more time in the top 10, but it looks like it’ll be leaving soon, which sucks. Oh well though it had a great run here, and I’m excited to say that it’ll appear on my best of 2022 list.

Last years #1 song: Ed Sheeran-Shivers(7/14 annoying and excruciating weeks at #1)
My favorite song from last year: Ed Sheeran-Overpass Graffiti(This aged super well, lol)

Debuts
Kicking off Hitbound we have some random ass artist named Jordi with her song called Hate You, and this is a really nice song. It starts out very slow, but by the end of the song I like how the production turns into a trap type of vibe and is somewhat upbeat. Jordi does a great job on the vocals and has a pretty good voice, and the lyrics are catchy and very relatable. Overall not much to say, nor will I probably ever revisit this, but it’s actually really good,
After 2 Be Loved became a hit I was most certainly not looking forward to this next debut, but alas we have Special up next, which is the title track off Lizzo’s recent album, and apparently this is supposed to be the next single off of it, but it’s supposed to be a remix with SZA(how delightful). Anyways Hits 1 has picked up the original version of the song ahead of time I guess, and I wasn’t going into this with high expectations at all, but I was quite surprised by how good it is. Lizzo does a great job on the vocals here, and while the production is more R&B-ish it’s really nice. The writing here is what I really like though, it’s positive and matches the vibe of the song very well, it also makes me feel good about myself as a whole, which is something I really need right now, since I’m super stressed and anxious. Overall very solid song from Lizzo, and I hope this can become a hit.
Next we have Lewis Capaldi with a new song off his new album that is way too long and forgettable to name, but the album is out in 2023, and this is the second single off of it called Pointless. I really like Forget Me, although I will admit that it wasn’t a song that I had planned on keeping around for long on my chart, but I still do very much enjoy it, and I really really really enjoy this to say as an understatement, I love this. Capaldi sounds great here, and he doesn’t sound like he screeches or voice cracks too much in this song in my personal opinion. The production here is super nice, it’s downbeat and really basic, but what I like about it is that it feels more upbeat than some other ballads I’ve heard recently, like If You Ask Me To for example. What really pulled me into this song though was the writing. The lyrics here are so good, and I love how Lewis tells us all that he does for his girlfriend, and how she makes him feel, it’s so great, in fact when I heard this song my mind drifted to someone(who I’m not dating) but just a really good friend of mine who made me feel good while I was stressed, and who made me feel relatable to her bad times recently, and when I heard this song I thought of this person, and my mood just turned so bright very fast, so in conclusion you can say I love this song and I have a crush on someone who ultimately I probably won’t end up with. It’s funny how a song can make you so happy and lovey sometimes, and this is that for me. I think I’ve said enough, next.
Oh hell yes, look at what we have here, Big Time Rush, one of my favorite childhood bands and TV shows have returned after 9 years. They technically returned late last year when they released a song called Call It Like I See It, and that song was really good. Paralyzed is their first song on Hits 1 though maybe ever, and it’s great and much better than Sueco’s song of the same name from last year(although that’s a pretty good song to). This is awesome though, the production is very nice and I love how it’s in more of an alternative style than a pop style and the guys all sound great here, even almost 10 years after they broke up, and they have really good chemistry. The writing here is really cool too, and just like in that last song, here goes my mind drifting off. Ok I gotta get this off my head now, next.
Next we have a new song from Alec Benjamin called Paper Crown, and this is really good, although not his best song and slightly forgettable. Apparently this was written in 2016, but never released, so he re-recorded it a bit and it sounds good. Alec sounds good here, and I like the production. The writing is nice, although not too memorable. Overall solid song, but sorta forgettable
It’s nice to see 3 house songs on Hitbound at once, now what is this a race to see which can become a dropout the fastest? I hope not, anyways next up is These Night by Loud Luxury and KIDDO. I didn’t really like Loud Luxury’s first hit called Body, and that was because of the vocalist entirely, but since then I’ve heard a few of their songs, and they’re alright I guess. I really would’ve like it If their new song that was released yesterday called Afterparty was on here though instead of this because it’s way better. This is really solid though. Loud Luxury did a great job on the production and it sounds great. I’m not too fond of the vocalist though, I mean she sounds good here, but her voice isn’t the best for this type of house beat. Personally I would’ve had someone like RAYE sing this for example because she’s done a lot of house songs like this and has the voice to fit in with it. The writing is really good though, so that brings it back up. Solid song I guess.
Do we seriously need a soundtrack for the FIFA World Cup? I don’t think so, but alas we have one and we also now have the 2 main singles from it here on Hitbound. Tukah Taka is horrible and stupid, but Dreamers by Jung Kook of BTS is actually a very great song. He sounds great vocally and even though it doesn’t sound like a radio song production wise, I really like it. The background vocals from Fahrenheit Al Kubasai are a really nice addition to the mix and background, and I love the writing here, it’s just so positive and inspiring, especially for someone like me who has a lot of great dreams and goal to love for in their life. Great song, and I hope it can become a hit.
We lost Sober, Born Again, Rock and a hard place, If Jesus was a Rockstar, The DJ is Crying for Help and Silver Tongues, as our first Hitbound dropouts of 2023. It really really sucks to see Sober go, as it’s one of my favorite songs right now, but I guess we can’t have everything nice happen here can we. The DJ is Crying for Help and Silver Tongues were also great, but they never sounded like radio songs, so I’m cool with them leaving I guess, and the rest all sucked or were forgettable, so I don’t care if they’re gone.
Best Hitbound debut: ah shit, this is gonna be so close, but uh tie between Pointless and Paralyzed.
Blurbs
The only real movement that took place was I Ain’t Worried dropping 5 spots, which sucks and other than that it was a bunch of swaps, the only real noteable one in my mind being the Enough-I’m a Mess one, but I mean are these songs really gonna become hits here? Probably not, although they are great songs. I think y’all can get my point here.
Also Snap entered the top 10. Nice to see this becoming a sleeper hit here.
Music for a sushi restaurant also dropped 3 spots, I don’t think anyone cares though.
It is also nice to see Star Walkin and Forget Me in the top 5 though, although both will probably be blocked by our current #1, which sucks. Nice job replacing Jax with good songs in the top 5 Hits 1.
Anti-Hero is once again #1 and yeah I’m not gonna say anything else, this damn song is completely overrated, this is gonna be a nice long wait for a new #1, I hope it’s soon though, cuz I’m already tired of hearing this everywhere, it doesn’t need to be this popular.
Recommendations for Hits:
Alan Walker-Ritual
Metro Boomin/The Weeknd/21 Savage-Creepin
PNAU/Troye Sivan-You Know What I Need
Loud Luxury/Hook n Sling-Afterparty
Thanks for reading and I’ll see y’all in the next one.
